this game after november was garbage and still basically is garbage, just a little less smelly. If auto attack wasn't a big deal they wouldn't have bothered changing the system.

if auto attack was a big deal it would have brought a bunch of people back with it. it didn't. it was a big deal for yoshi, but from the population in the game is was not a make or break there. if that is what had the game broken people would have come back in droves, but it didn't happen.

maybe it did and maybe it didn't and your right auto attack is kind of broad however i can tell you that when FFXIV came out with its horrible button mashing system at first and everyone asked for auto attack, a lot of those people were thinking back to FFXI. To say that Yoshi isnt going to use features from FFXI is absolute insanity.

Actually people were unhappy with the speed of the combat, they had no time to chat in party etc.

SE/Yoshi's answer was to slow the combat down and add auto attack. (and lets not forget that many people were opposed to the addition of auto attack)

Your post almost suggests that by adding auto attack it made the game more popular.

Interestingly if you look at the new breed of MMO's they are fast paced action based games that use a reticle targeting system, I wonder how people will compare 2.0's slow paced battle system to those.

Personally I like both systems but I can appreciate what the original team was trying to do with the original battle system.

Your statement is funny since if you want to get technical, the fact it released almost 3 years after XI you could say it copied XI if you want to say a game "must have copied X"

Also, I've always been one of the people who said XIV released unfinished, which is why they should have just built off of XI, that way it wouldn't have been an unfinished mess because they'd have a solid base to work with.

Yea... because the WoW clones seem to be doing GREAT these days...
Very few MMOs achieve success... so doing something because every other MMO does is obviously not the recipe...

and even 3. things that could be brought over from FFXI outright...

the 580k people that quit, the 20k people that play now... the 4.5 million people who bought FFXIII and are potential customers... the 60 million PS3 owners... None of you has any idea what these people want... Stop being pretentious douchebags and let Yoshi do what he does...
Granted, there are some things that are a lot less subjective... like lag/latency... no one likes that and it would benefit SE to remove as much of it from the game as possible...
And Content... We all want as much content as SE can possibly squeeze onto our hard drives...

That aside, most incorporate-XI people aren't barking NONONONONONO at the ideas that aren't from XI, but the anti-XI people scream NONONONONONO if anything is too closely related to XI (even if they never played XI). There are wonderful ideas from XI that they could put in one form or another. There are also terrible ideas from XI that should die in fires.

The point was that "more content" and "less lag" are the only "WE" statements you can make about this game that don't make you look like you think you are the voice of the people....
