THose other races would be nice. Just not to soon. perhaps in a major expansion to add a replay value of earlier content.

It's going to take time, and I hope the SE style of story and visuals holds true. Where story interweaves in earlier content and continues to come together.

That's what made XI so potent and fun.

Oh and the AI. It jsut seems weak but most probably they have it toned down while they work on things. THe new engien may change it all. XI's AI set it apart and it was an older game then WOW. AI that tracked you based on sight, scent, sound, or true site. AI that would hunt you down across a zone as you franticly tried to make it to a load zone for saftey, cussing at your screen. OR you run around a hillside and run smack dab into the enemy who went the other side. Oh the memories, no wonder I have sleep apnea now, that damn game stressed the frick out of me.

This game has sight, sound and true sound monsters, those big tress by Turning leaf are one example of sound based monsters.

Boars are Area based sound, meaning if you walk past them at safe distance they won't aggro you.

I don't think anybody wants to be chased across the whole of Thanalan by a rabid marmot. (maybe I'm wrong though)

THe UI is sorta complex for some. Now yeah we can navigate it fast becuase we are used to it. New gamers however are not going to settle in fast with it.

They are revamping it for controller use further, and more tuning for mouse keyboard, as well as combo.

The main menu structure, it just needs to go. Needs to be divided up where you can eitehr tab over rows or use a controller to arrow key over into sub groups.

Doesn't matter, ther will be changes based on feedback as it grows. Hopefully they will be as fast in new stuff and changes as Trion is with Rift. I have faith in SE. The team, and Having XI dev vets on the team to merge old and new and come up with newer ideas. The new engine may make it all happen faster, since it's made for MMO play in mind. Once 2.0 is out, the new engine, new servers, we will probably see what we want and desire happen.

The Ai is still not full fledged Jinko. Not realiable. Soem enemies that normally attack based on sight sound don't, and right now it is actually been coned down to range to enemy. I even noticed it happen through walls or arounf corners. PRobably more of a Chrystal Tool limitation.

Be hunted and chased is half the fun and thrill. Some enemies are range return based like other mmo's and Wow, which is just no fun and no challenge. Especially early on in the game. Attack, run to road, let them return, finish them off before they regen.

Becuase of the PS3's limitations, and even with the new engine, load zones will probably return so enviroments can be more detailed. THose laod zones will come in handy for the hunt/be hunted moments.

FFXI has been ruined by abyssea, they flipped the god switch. Now they're making it grindy to get length, because xiv is taking longer to be ready than anticipated. The timing of it seemed to be "launch ffxiv, in 3 months get xi's cap to 99 so people can be happy, and they'll migrate to ffxiv once they're done" but xiv's launch was a little rocky, and they had to pull something out of their ass to keep xi going.

XI was great because of all the stuff, big and little, to be done. Fame, city missions, choco quest, kazham airship, regular airship, subjobs. But sadly that mentality has changed. Everyone is all "get to the top, do nothing". People don't enjoy the journey anymore, and that's sad. I'd be seriously sad if i had every job at 50. I'm already sad that I have them all at 20.

the only thing i really want from xi is the same thing i want from wow. i want lots of content, quests, stories, and things to do in general. that's going to be a long time before that happens though.

Well actually you can blame Yoshi-p for this.

As much as I prefer him to Tanaka, his stance of power levelling and easy leveling in general is not a good one, that being said he doesn't plan to keep the same ease of levelling in 2.0.

What we are playing now is not a good indication to what to expect in 2.0, in any respect really including hard/time sink content.

Even with zoned area's I don't see monsters chasing you relentlessly, although saying that currently many leve monster will chase you to the ends of a zone. (of course you fail the leve if you leave a zone though lol)

    This

Yoshi has said this many, many times now. The game in it's entirety before 2.0, will be nothing like that of what it should be when 2.0 hits. Think of this ease as a temporary reward for sticking it out, or something of that sort...

Although I can't say with certainty, but I would be willing to bet that leveling up, or any progression in 2.0 will take much more work. Again, my opinion.
