The story being the main selling point is nothing but a selfmade cope from the playerbase.

The game is a story based MMO. The fact you can't do anything in the game until you do the story is a testament to that.
If you don't think this game is story driven, I dunno what to tell ya mate.

Each patch costs $65 in subscription fees over its five-month duration. We get roughly two hours of story content per patch. While Endwalker's MSRP might be earned, its subscription cost is not, so the dismissal is fair. It would be better if this game did not have a subscription.

And sure you can look at it that way if you're caught up on everything else you want to do in the game. Everyone has different taste as well as different values for spendings.
Any consumer would agree for spending less, that's just common sense. But I'm personally content as it is right now.
