Sound advice except for the “sub for the MSQ” part, that subpar story isn’t worth the money.
You are speaking to someone who is more than willing to pay for cosmetics. Battle passes are garbage, and in my praise of games like Genshin or Star Rail, I have not praised their gacha practices. I have praised the games itself and their updates. For that matter, those games are VERY playable absolutely free to play, but I digress. Paying for cosmetics is one thing, but a battle pass is something else entirely. I really can't believe why people will defend battle passes, and act like it's consumer friendly.People will pay for cosmetics. They will gleefully pay dearly for cosmetics they are highly unlikely to ever obtain from that accursed gacha. FOMO is cancer, and I gladly condemn any who defend it for whichever crusade they woke up and chose to embark upon that day.

This, this, this. All the way this. This is why the "take a break" argument never truly works. The thing so many fail to understand is thus: Other games allow you to take a break. FFXIV, by contrast, forces you to take a break because by the time you feel inclined to resort to such a drastic action it is often the only recourse left to you. Even then, as you also stated most astutely, when you do return you often cannot jump right back in since you must grind out tomestones to get the newest gear since your old set is possibly severely outranked depending on how long you've been absent for.
Inb4 the next time a poster gets angy and umcomfy when ex cathedra statements are made or making one's opinion not clear is villainized selectively. I'm so weary of this, and from where I stand you cannot condemn those whom you share and exhibit the faults of. The "I'm not them, I personally didn't do this" argument also doesn't work, since again, the behavior is being critiqued with selective precision. Enough with the bias already, it's so damn tiresome.
Maybe instead of being smug about it you realize people critique games they love and want to get better and realize that Square making having a subscription and logging in to post is actually kind of scummy. It's the only thing that actually enables these backwards and nonsensical analogies, because logic and common sense were taken behind the shed long ago.Because people didn't make a huge fuss and spend every waking moment bemoaning the game while paying a sub. You have to pay a sub to post here, which means...you know, you're kind of supporting SE's decisions right now. If everyone who had a problem with it just unsubbed, SE would notice the hit and immediately work to make changes. But they're not getting that hit because people are paying them right now just to post here in the forums. And every time somebody suggests it, people blow them off. If somebody said, "You should probably take a break" while you're not having fun in GW2, you probably would take a break. But here people are making excuses for why they can't and just keep paying the sub that tells SE "people are paying for our game."
It's a common phenomenon that those who say "I don't actually care about <insert thing here>" is often rather concerned with said thing. It's a known obfuscation method in the lives of many human beings living on this planet. I'm also relatively sure it was listed as a symptom of a very particular chapter of the DSM-V, but I'll let you research that one on your own. ◕‿↼

I don't go out of my way to attack or belittle people. Most of my post history is actually polite until I'm attacked first. Which always happens because some people here just simply can't handle people enjoying the game or any disagreement. It in fact does. You make frequent statements to the effect of "we can't be positive here because we get attacked" while going out of your way to attack and belittle people for bringing forth criticisms. That does speak of a lack of self-awareness. You do the very things you continually accuse others of, which is precisely why I outlined those things.
As I see it, that was a statement of fact. If you choose to take it as an insult, that's is your prerogative.
I see what I say as statements of fact. If you choose to take it as an insult, that's your prerogative.
Actually not really, as I know what an opinion is versus a fact...something you don't seem to know the difference between. But since you find insulting opinions to be "facts" - going on my block list too. Not the type of person I will engage with further now that you revealed that this is how you think.
EDIT: For Kickwars, who I blocked, but I saw him being quoted - I actually celebrated my 17 year anniversary last month with a glorious trip abroad. Yes I paid for this with the money I made from my business. Thanks for remembering! I'm glad I made such an impact on you that you recall this about me from a one-off comment months ago. I feel quite adored and appreciated from all the attention you want to give me!

SUCCESSFUL MULTIMILLION DOLLAR BUSINESS OWNER IN A 16 YEAR MARRIAGE KNOWS WHAT IS OPINION AND WHAT IS FACT. MORE AT 5
I don't think you understand what respecting your time means. It means that you're not forced to do it if you don't want to and you can do it later without any special hassle. It has nothing to do with how long grind is. I don't understand how we got into situation where MMORPG players are surprised that MMORPGs have grinds. What's next, gamers surprised that F2P games have lootboxes? Now if we want to talk about a game that definitely doesn't respect your time, I know it was mentioned earlier in the thread but I do not think GW2 remotely respects your time. The grinds to become raid-ready, the grind to get legendary armor and legendary weapons, the grind to get high agony resistance for high end fractals, it's all freaking insane, probably the worst grinds I've ever seen in an MMO lol. On top of that, you lose access to non-base expansion story stuff (so living world story that releases between expansions) if you don't actively do it when it releases, otherwise you have to pay for it.
- Raid-ready? Are you for real? You can buy buy exotic armor which is 5% worse than BiS for chump change. And if you want BiS, ascended is pretty easy to get nowadays.
- Neither legendary armor or weapons are required for anything, they're literally just for flex, they have exact same stats as Ascended. Do you want legendaries for free of what? Entire point of legendary weapons is that they're not hard to do, but take a long time, while legendary armor is both hard and takes long time. This is how you design prestigious flex items, unlike EW relics, which are just participation awards.
- AR is system so newbs don't jump immediately to T4 + AR infusions are great for making money and so on. Fractals are great example of gradual difficulty ramp up, instead of FFXIV massive leap from normal content to EX and EX to savage.
- Not unlocking LW episodes is FOMO, I agree, but saying you "lose access" when you "don't actively do it when it releases" is very misleading. You literally need to log in once during that patch and it's unlocked forever, and if you didn't, you can unlock it for 200 gems, which is 2.5$, or just convert few golds for gems and you get it for free.
I mean, that keyword will pull his name from a quote. I reply a lot to posts on the forums. Doesn't mean I care about him particularly. By this logic, Theodric has an obsession with mommy because if you plug it in the same way you did with me a ton of posts come up. And you have admitted to having a ton of accounts just to troll the forums for fun.
HERE. Notice how *I* didn't say "ON THE FORUMS" or something like that.
I thought you were done here?
Will put you on ignore if you can't form a logical argument but argue nonetheless
