All of the above is okay with me. This is my entertainment now.
For the record, I still do love XIV - But "Play other games" or "PUG raid" just exhaust me at this point. I don't actually play anymore, I'm basically just subbed to meme and hold my house.

Who forbid you from doing so?
1 out of 10 posters is enough to disuade you?
The number of negative threads is not enough to encourage you?
You're safe and sound. Here you are legion, for you are many.
Was going to write the same thing. The feigned victimization some people act like they experience about not being allowed to complain when most of this forum is a mob of negativity... lol
Honest question: if you still love XIV and want to play, why does a suggestion like "try EXs in PF" exhaust you? The Extremes this expansion have been a good gateway into 'high end' content. From your posts, you seem to get enjoyment from the battle content in the game, so if you do want to play the game more and you feel like the game isn't letting you play it, why not take the plunge into the battle content the game is providing currently?
The lack of self-awareness is flowing freely today, it seems.
Not everyone is capable of doing so. Not everyone has the time to do so. Not everyone is comfortable with doing so. There are many reasons one might choose to refrain from stepping into EX and higher. Frankly, the vast majority of the game's playerbase won't go anywhere near EX or above.Honest question: if you still love XIV and want to play, why does a suggestion like "try EXs in PF" exhaust you? No one is gatekeeping anything. Disagreement is not akin to allowing or disallowing. Heck, if anything it seems more like positivity is the thing that is discouraged the most on here. Sure there will be trolls pushing the bar, but if we judged everything by their standards then we are doomed.
Because they've always been a bit gatekeepy, and I really don't want to deal with that shit right now. I could historically just hop into Eureka, or Bozja and get shit done. I just want more coop challenges that don't rely on the full group's coordination and constant repeated failures. But that's mostly a me problem I think, because I DO love day 1 Normals.Honest question: if you still love XIV and want to play, why does a suggestion like "try EXs in PF" exhaust you? Variant was kinda perfect for me in that way, but it fell flat. The challenge was there, and it scaled for 1-4 which was great. But it has no reason to repeat it, and it's all scripted.
It's like both Variant and Island Sanctuary were a direct calling to my kinda playstyle, but I could instantly tell they were husks of what could've been.

Negativity being accepted on any level is a fairly recent development, and even now it does tend to result in being mocked and ridiculed regardless of whether or not criticisms are thoughtful and well-written. Bringing this up in turn often results in further mockery and various accusations. And therein lies the problem. No one is gatekeeping anything. Disagreement is not akin to allowing or disallowing. It is normal to be critical of a product you care about when you see things you feel could be handled better, and putting those thoughts to word is about the only option available other than just throwing in the towel. If you speak ill of any part of the game, there will almost definitely be some posters that roll up to trash you. It's happened enough that people are just tired of it.

I'm referring to this:
I don't believe that's how things went down. From what I recall, anyone critical of the game on any front has been attacked across numerous threads and even when they're positive about something they're accused of liking the 'wrong' things.
I believe a certain poster even referred to anyone wanting the Scions to suffer some meaningful consequences as 'psychos', only to screech to the high heavens the moment someone got a bit curt with them in turn.
It's been a common trend for years. You didn't even post on the forum until a year ago so I find it very unlikely that you were around to even see the people instigating the long running grudges around these parts and even if you were, you'd no doubt just dismiss any evidence immediately.
The people with concerns towards the game aren't going around sending people death threats and rape threats. Some of the people who can't handle Endwalker being criticised, however, have done so. Though it isn't on the same level as death and rape threats, even some within this very thread have accused anyone who criticises Venat as 'hating women'. I'm tired of pretending as if people don't get outright deranged over this game because they absolutely do - and it's a large reason as to why there's so much 'hostility' around these parts. A lot of us are pretty damn tired of having to walk on eggshells around unhinged nutjobs.
Pretending as if 'both sides' are equally to blame in this case is not only in bad faith it's outright reprehensible.
