I finally managed to get through most of this thread, and this is the take I agree with the most. Zepla and Mr. Happy combine to make two people, or roughly about .0002% of the entire playerbase. Zepla in particular, I cannot stand. Her content is poor not only for FFXIV, but as a content creator in general. But really what did it for her was when she went off on a two-year old temper tantrum about housing a few years back, which was just so cringe. Mr. Happy OTOH has very good content: Interesting topics, sticks to the subject, gives valid opinions when warranted, good PvE guides. My only issue with him is his face. Not that it's hideous or anything. This is something I generally dislike about FFXIV content creators because I want to see the content, not the mugs of the creators.

In short, it's going to take much more than them to get me to hop on the dog pile of expressing how crappy the game is or has become. I have my issues with it. Many of which are shared with the views on these forums. Some of these, but not restricted to are: healing, encounter design, glamour system, custom creator, gold saucer events, ilv bloat in duties, alliance raids, and lack of challenge in normal level duties.

A big reason why I come to the defense of the devs so often isn't because I have zero issues with the game, and think it's a perfect digital utopia, but rather because I respect them, their time, and their efforts. The impression I constantly get from many of the posters on this forum is a grand sense of entitlement for themselves, and a severe lack of appreciation for the work this dev team does. There are many posters here who I have engaged in arguments with whom I still respect and value their feedback. Then there are those who don't know how to debate in a constructive and civil manner, resorting to memes, unwarranted insults, and echoes to make their arguments.

For the relic in particular. I think for some players it is the straw that breaks the camels back. They've had it with disappointment after disappointment. I can sympathize with those feelings. But I also can see where the devs are coming from who have not been able to implement this content without ruffling feathers. They've tried many approaches, with the current tomestone steps being the latest. They can do no right with this content, and it is my belief that it is time to scrap it entirely come 7.0. Content like Deep Dungeons, Eureka and Bozja can survive on their own merit without throwing relic steps in to incentivize them. Relic weapons in the context of these great and powerful arms of the WoL does not fit in the progression style that FFXIV uses. The only time, and I do mean the only time this was viable was when all we had was ARR. As soon as HW came around, the concept of relics was destroyed.

That said, what I constantly do is find things about the game I enjoy and stick to those instead of focusing my energy on what I have no power to change. I also ration the content knowing how limited it is. I do this by finding replay value in the content I've cleared, and spending time doing things outside the game. Things that help give me a sense of purpose and accomplishment: exercising, tending to my house plants, time with family/friends, my job, tidiness in my living space. And yes, playing other games too. FFXIV has its issues, and it always will. It can never make everyone playing happy. But the players themselves have the power to find meaningful ways to spend their time online. That is what I implore.

    """SNIP"".
They are both clowns, so is Meonie and others... much of their content creation especially if it is new has been datamined... and when their stuff is out you already had the patch notes from SE, so it is pointless content.

Also... they are NOT content creators of FFXIV, the SE Dev and writing team is.

Technically they are just craving for likes and views... and am like Leave Britney Alone kind of attention seeking.

Play the game live, do content live... and make it a one time happening instead, but they are not capable of that either.... and then there is the flawed how to do extremes, savage and whatever with outdates moves as well as inefficient.... get to the point show mechanics.. end of story, no one is there to watch a bad variant of the 3 stoges.

This might well be one of the most relevant and well-thought out opinions I've seen posted here, and I thank you for saying it. If we're stooping to the level of rendering Relics tomestone weaponry when we already possess such things, maybe it is indeed time to ditch the idea entirely. I enjoyed the stories of Bozja and Eureka respectively, and I like to think I have faith that the devs in question could produce another one on the same level in the future if allocated the requisite resources.

    Make it happen, Square!

It's kinda funny watching the community basically turn on the only content creators they have left. Right now Twitch is just a bunch of night club DJs with 10-30 viewers, random players doing MSQ for views, and sometimes Xeno.

"Yeah, I never liked them anyway" - Too bad they the only hype generators you got..

Remember when everyone was excited we started getting content creators from WoW and other MMOs hyping us up, then they all just.. Disappeared?

Now you turn on the ones that have been here for years. Pretty messed up.

This implies that the same people are on all of those categories you've listed, and rather just not separate people and groups entirely.

I think I had a stroke trying to read that.

Yes, a category is dull when there's nothing but super small streamers running through MSQ with their pals. There's no discussion, hype, community content. It's just.. MSQ and DJ.

I must have given you too much credit in your comprehension then. I won't do it again.

The point was that players excited for the streamers from WoW aren't exactly the same players that are spitting on the streamers we have left.

Is that simple enough for you?

Yes thank you ma'am, and or sir. My tiny cells can finally comprehend the gigamind.

Sure, you can say that as a veil - It doesn't detract from the fact that the community as a whole seemed way more cheerful and happy when we were in the spotlight by big variety streamers.

It's still sad that we can't even say anything nice about the creators we've had for years, because they're the ones that'll hopefully stick around when the wave is cleared. If we let them wash away then we have nothing. It even seemed kinda difficult for Happy to post a video in disappointment. He probably expects backlash to some degree.

What happens when they leave is we're stuck with expac release hype generator variety streamers that are just paid for, they don't actually like XIV. Then we go on with the dopamine thinking they actually care about us, while they go on to play the next big release for money. Repeat every expac.

It is not content to watch streams, it is content if people actually play the game, I don't get the content creator thing you are talking about, this is an MMORPG, sure guides and whatever can be called for usefull content, but it is not content creation at all... several people make guides and or show the mechanics out there.

Why would be watch actual content and not play it? The target group could never be FFXIV players for that if you want to create awareness then it must be people out there that ha snever heard of the game or might want to give it a try, because they have seen some gameplay.

I could not in the wildest dreams simp over some Streamer IF I GOT the game and IF I am actually playing it as well, as to patch notes and the likes, the official sources is best.

And nope this is not the community turning onto the so called 'big' streamers out there, this is the streamers turning on the community with pretty much only showing stuff we already are experiencing in live actually playing the game, to create content for FFXIV with streaming, you actually need to be creative and eg. not just be a parrot telling what the patchnotes is about and showing datamined content, where you use third party tools to have pulled out this or that new minion or mount, before anyone could even get one.

This rant feels like grandpa who cannot believe and accept that playing video games professionally is a thing.
