You're proving my point that you decide what is a finisher by the animation and not the function which isn't logical. Abyssal Drain may look cooler than S&D but it lack the function to make it a finisher. So even if AD got even better animation it would still unable to become a finisher without a function that support it.


on topic about scourge for people who only kept the nostalgic about this old action I can't help them but you can't drag me to board the train of people that addicted to a dot and wish for it to return. Aside from the animation scourge to me doesn't give better feeling than sonic break and the latter is start to feel not special to me. I'm one of people who don't excite over a dot that everybody can have. We aren't gonna having a discuss which the ultimate goal is bringing the old action back, please leave me out of that club. If anyone still missing it then they could consult papachin and dalamud for that.

The point is to give such actions the function to make it a finisher

People want good animations back because they felt good to press for animation alone, what a concept! I don't care how they bring it back I just want to feel my sword swings that are on the GCD to feel like they have weight again. Given the only good looking animations since 5.0 are Stalwart Soul and Oblation, and I've warmed up to Edge of Shadow a sizable amount. (Shadowbringer would be on the list if it lasted a tad longer) It isn't far-fetched to say it would just be easier for them to bring them back. Would I like for them to make newer animations with different functions than ones in the past? Sure. They haven't given me any reason to believe they have those intentions, though.
