I have never made any comments on whether ACT is cheating or not. It's kind of irrelevant, though, as it is still a third party tool. All third party tools are against ToS regardless of how they affect the game. I was simply rebutting someone's statement that the only way to improve is through add-ons when you can do so completely in game. Because a striking dummy is an in-game tool, available in most areas of the game, that lets you test out the effectiveness of different rotations and combos. It doesn't give you the same numbers as a parser. There's no total or calculations. It just tells you the same thing hitting a boss tells you. That your hit did X amount of damage or X Crit damage.
You do just seem adamant to always be right even when someone isn't addressing your point. You're allowed your opinions, but don't use what I said as some sort of "see, I'm right".
EDIT:
It could have been random common knowledge that a new player didn't figure out on their own. For instance. that it used to be better to use Straight Shot before your DOTS to have the Crit buff that Straight Shot used to give also affect your DOTS. You can pick up a lot of helpful information along the way. Which can be learned through trial and error.

Ah true it didnt exist back then, point still stands tho. If you were dedicated you could have used ingame tools to compare rotations which is exactly what ACT can do. Now however sky stone sea exists so my point is even inforced now. ACT is not cheating, it's accessibility.
ACT is more or less an excel sheet at the core you know that right? So with that information, would you have an issue if someone just manually inputted their data from their combat log into excel? Or would the use of excel be a third party tool?As I can find ( and maybe you can help here )..it seems FFLogs takes its data from a third party program that isnt allowed in TOS. It doesnt take data from the game itself...you need a 3rd party program to get that to work.
So you tell me. is it?
Stormpeaks: if you were arguing in good faith Id continue..............but you arent.
We disagree, leave it there.
Later. Im busy.
If you do not have an issue with someone doing it themselves, what is your problem with ACT?
Then you don’t need act as the game provides you the tools. Ty for your participationAh true it didnt exist back then, point still stands tho. Is this what math teachers have to deal with when they tell their students to show their work? Act as a calculator means you are cheating. Going by the log and manually adding and averaging damage means that's okay. Am I reading that right? Wew, what a thread!
