Need advice: static imploding because of cheater.

Just saw this. For one, who are you that I should waste my time disliking you? I don't mean that in a disparaging way, I literally just can't be bothered to care about holding grudges against someone I disagree with on the forums of an MMO.

Second, you're misrepresenting my words again. I care about my own achievements because I only do stuff in this game that I find enjoyable. I care about my friends' achievements because they are my friends and I'm interested in what they've got going on. I don't give two craps about Joe Shmoe afking in Limsa with a glowy weapon in his hands, and judging by everyone running past him, neither do most people. In fact, I've seen more memes and mockery of these people than admiration (anecdotal evidence, so take it as you will). That's what I think of every time someone comes into these threads complaining about the "prestige" of raiding (you are not the first), and every time those people show it's just about ego for them, which to me is baffling and yes does make it seem like those people have issues. Like why is it so important for you (you in general not specifically) to be able to show off to strangers that don't know or care about you? Hell, maybe I'm just jaded from so many of these stupid discussions that just go round and round in circles lol

Because it's an mmo, and a small fun part of MMOs is showing off your accomplishments. That's why there are titles, and unique mounts and things for certain achievements, raiding or otherwise. It doesn't mean someone has a huge ego, or overvalues their MMO accomplishments in their real life. It's just a fun thing because this is a hobby and a game. One you clearly don't care about at all, which is fine, but doesn't mean people can't have their fun and show off a little when they spent weeks / months as a coordinated team to down the most challenging content. Letting them show off their shiny thing almost no one else has doesn't mean they need a therapist.

I understand your point. You just can't see that not all players think like you do about it. I can see cool current-gear raid gear or mounts out and about being used by *gasp* total strangers and think it's a neat/cool thing they have. Some players like to sit in town AFK showing off the shiny new thing. Doesn't mean it's "all about ego" and the only reason they raid. It's just a small part of raiding for some raiders who accomplished something most players haven't.

I cbf to edit the specific point I'm referring to but just wanted to mention one thing:

You're aware people buy savage and ultimate clears, right? Like...you act like it's a massive accomplishment when you can buy a clear and have it done that same day. I honestly don't trust any Legends off the bat unless I know them personally because there's no real way to tell how exactly they got that title.

If we're really gonna talk cheating, how about we start with people piloting your account for you or eating dirt while everyone else clears for you?

Yes, and so is crossing a red light for pedestrians even if it's 3 AM and there's no cars around, so ? Do you see cops going all over the place arresting or giving citations to people crossing red pedestrian lights when there's no cars around ? No. Except overzealous cops.

I don't think anyone is disagreeing with this lol. Everyone knows mods are against TOS and certain mods are basically cheats.

The disconnect here seems to be one side, or at least a hyper-zealous minority that needs to be reigned in so they stop making their side look bad, is witch hunting and attacking people that even slightly disagree with them and is arguably over concerned with what other people are doing.

The other side, who for the most part is of the stance "if it doesn't cause Square to punish us y'all need to calm down a bit", has certain people that are extremely caustic (and who thankfully haven't appeared in this thread yet) who make THEIR side look bad. And bringing up someone's mount collection ain't it bro.

Both sides need to reign themselves in, this has been a multi-thread topic and honestly all it ends up being is a bunch of stupid bickering.

Stuff like act and fflogs should only be to improve yourself or your static if everyone agrees it goes a step farther if someone bullies someone else with fflogs and act. The UAV mod it a form of cheat that everyone should say that is a cheat if you use it in raids. But on the other hand the people who bullies everyone for using act and fflogs also validates the tos by mass reporting since it could be a sign of harassment. It used to be don't ask and don't tell but some people are taking it way too far.

Making another thread. Side note you should have discussed this with your static and said person who used the cheat. Give them a chance. You jumped the gun and now you have to deal with the actions you clearly made.
