They allowed mods, people got used to playing with them, and now to make challenging content they have to consider them or the content they create will be too easy.
SE isn't going to start ramping up raid difficulty because some members of the raiding community choose to use third-party tool. Besides, the zoom thing and Cactbot, the two most egregious raiding third-party tools, still can't play the game for you. Someone that sucks is still going to suck while using third-party tools, and someone that doesn't suck will continue not sucking regardless of whether or not they are using third-party tools. I don't personally support the use of crap like Cactbot, but I'm not going to sit here and pretend like it's some kind of awful plague upon the game. It's a personal choice players can make, nothing more.

Your correct they are not going to ramp up the difficulty BECAUSE they are taking a no tolerance policy on mods. My argument was that IF they decided to accept mods then they would also have to change their method of design similar to WoW's. The issue is that it is a slippery slope. If SE accepts it then it becomes ok and the problem gets worse. Think of it like steroids in sports, sure some players use it in secret now but if the league said it was ok to use it would become almost mandatory to compete.

If anything, the reverse is happening. I've seen many people criticizing TOP because the really high number of priority mechanics greatly encourage the use of auto-markers in environments where voice chat isn't an option. And the high difficulty of the content so close to DSR hasn't been exactly welcome either, as many hoped it would be closer to TEA's difficulty and citing P1 as being extremely exhausting rather than fun.

I hear you, but then shouldn't the feedback be "make the fight better" not "allow me to cheat (use mods) so I can clear this!" Mods are often created because of a poor design choice. I don't support the use of zoom hack but I do think it highlights a poor design decision in making mechanics that are hard to see. Most people arguing for mods to be accepted are really just arguing the wrong point. They want to bypass issues themselves instead of asking SE because they have more control over mods than SE.

I feel like this is kind of irrelevant as long as Square has a firm stance on not adding anti-cheat. Even if fights were made as braindead as possible that a 5 year old could clear, it's not going to stop the existance of plugins or people using them.

Which should neither be encouraged nor condoned. Cheating is cheating. No grey area.
