This wouldn't happen, content unlock in FFXIV is extremely story-based, if someone missed 8.0, they'd have to play 8.0 MSQ to get to 9.0 even if they are on-level to do 9.0, as much as you can argue this to be a problem, it is just not likely to ever change.
That's not true! They were directly taken from FFXII!
We will probably get a level squish in 8.0. Yeah they probably think they will have a better solution but this will most likely what we will end up with.
Will put you on ignore if you can't form a logical argument but argue nonetheless
It would be really smart of them to do something like that. The gap between newer players and the current end game keeps growing. They're going to want to make sure people can bridge that gap.
The change I'd like to see in 7.0 and onward is for the MSQ to strictly be solo duties with or without quest NPCS mixed with various solo quests/cutscenes. Then have all multiplayer duties be optional side content. ARR had a number of different 4 player duties that broke the monotony of the 4 player level design we see now which feels like is designed around the lowest skill level players because they tie them into the MSQ to the point they've gone back and homogenized old duties that didn't fit this bottom of the barrel mold. Having all multiplayer content be optional side content not tied to the MSQ would allow them to improve the design of said content without issues of a certain group of players crying that they're "gated" out of story progression.
If they keep increasing the max level they should absolutely cap it at 99.
But for level squishing... They HAVE been sort of level squishing a bit since Heavensward, as they wanted the max level to go from 50 to 70 apparently but they then trimmed it down to only 60 and made every level have the XP requirements and effects of two.
And there IS still technically room for removing half the levels from 50-90, since you only get new skills and unlock new dungeons every other level, would make every level essentially 4 and drop 20 levels off from the max... And even 1-50 doesn't probably need all those levels.
woo, a story that scaled to whatever level you were at so you could level alt jobs with the story, or at least AN alt job? That'd be AMAZING. I'd be all for no level increase if they added something like that.
Odd. Sounds more like you're asking for a single player game. Can't really say old stuff is an issue because they've been piss easy ever since whatever expansion comes out after. Doing this changes the very foundation of how XIV is. There's a reason they didn't make Trusts better than actual people for msq stuff. (And sorry but let's be real, the average dungeon run with randoms RARELY takes as long as trusts). This seems less like an idea for everyone and more a case of you just not wanting to have to interact much with "bottom of the barrel players". Your distain for them is clear as dayThe change I'd like to see in 7.0 and onward is for the MSQ to strictly be solo duties with or without quest NPCS mixed with various solo quests/cutscenes. I disagree. There's a chance it could actually happen. There's concern over having new people catch up. Yes, it's extremely story-based, but why can't we have shorter stories going forward? Do you really see another 10 year arc going forward?
Typical response from someone who apparently is so insecure about themselves they have to attempt to paint others poorly in an attempt to make themselves look better. Interacting with bottom of the barrel players isn't the issue. Having a majority of the multiplayer aspect of the game held back simply to appease the noisy and obnoxious portion of that minority is however an issue the game has continued to suffer for in increasing quantities over the years. Trusts are NEVER going to be better than COMPETENT players without a substantial investment in AI programming which SE doesn't appear to have any interest in doing with this title given how pets have been essentially phased out. I only mention this because you seem to think the existence of them somehow in that delusional mind of yours validates your opinion and blatant inability to see the actual point I made.Odd. What I want is multiplayer content going forward to actually be designed as multiplayer content rather than having everything that isn't EX, 24 player, or Savage essentially designed as solo content that you can choose add other people to.
