The CNJ quest line always gave me the impression that as a healer we were supposed to dps. Sylphie is introduced as a bad CNJ because she only wants to heal. She doesn't want to use the offensive stone and aero spells. The same spells we use to eradicate corrupted elementals at multiple points in the quest line. There was never an ability to call upon the elementals in the kit. The act of calling upon all the elementals is only accomplished by using spells related to them. So if you aren't casting stone and aero you aren't communing with and drawing aid from the wind and earth elementals. Sylphie's journey is marked by her realizing how powerful earth and wind can be and seeing the positive effect of using these forces to repel the corruption tainting the forest. Eventually she begins using these abilities herself and that is the turning point where she is no longer at risk of dying from healing others. The CNJ quest line demands DPS to be completed and explicitly states that someone who only heals is putting their life at risk. I'm not sure how you can walk away from that quest line without thinking that DPS is an integral part of the job.
