I've genuinely been impressed by the FFXIV community's ability to not only be content with mediocrity from the developers, but actively praise and defend it.

Even on topics that are objectively true, if it has a negative spin about the state of the game, people will act like you're attacking their very being, rather than the product of a major gaming corporation with a net worth of over 6 billion dollars.

Scrolling through threads in first 5 pages in different sections of the forum, most of those topics are negative towards the game.

Where’s toxic positivity when you need it?

The fact that many replies in said threads are actually in line with the topics, with some derailing here and there, some neutral takes, and definitely few white knights. Apparently those affirmations are not enough and we certainly need toxic positivity to build a victim status in order to make our voice heard. Victim card is such an useful tool


If anything, those “constructive criticism “ posts are not brushed off by “toxic positivity.“ Your voice is not heard because they’re drowned by threads of personal requests, ranting, and complaints. All of which hide behind a glamorous facade called “ constructive criticism.”

Not saying every complaint is not valid, but there’re definitely posts that complain just for the sake of it. One becomes numb when negativity keeps adding up. Your “constructive criticism “ becomes one star in the universe. Beautiful, but hardly noticeable in the grand scheme of things.

But yeah, let’s keep blaming toxic positivity. As of it’s simply a counter force of toxic negativity. Those two cannot exist without each other.

This, it is very easy to pretend to be constructive while in reality demanding that they, often raiders should be placed ahead of everyone else in terms of content, rewards and priority often because they unironically believe raiding makes them more important than everyone else.

And when they are used to being pandered too in games like WoW they just cant comprehend how FF14 focuses on the majority of the playerbase rather than their tiny minority.

I love when people claim people interested in raiding are the tiny minority. when over in JP they account for upwards of 30% of the population (according to Lucky Bancho statistics).

JP doesn't equal NA or EU. Different mindsets between the communities leads to a lower percentage for raiding.

That's the NA perception because it's inherently insecure (and frankly a little racist) over here.

The truth is as Aword3213 posted above. There's too much noise for them to glean any real feedback from this section. JP can organize a thought better.

Wasn't that the guy who talked 24/7 about some XIV defense force bs cause he had some beef with some random people? Just another content creator who gave way too much kupos when it comes to social media and parasocial relationships. But hey at least he won't pigeonhole the entire community anymore.

Nonetheless i wish him all the best and hope he finds a place where he can be happy and less toxic, for his own sake.
