Imagine not raiding in 14.. What is there to stay subbed for? O_o Island Sanctuary lol?

Treasure maps, crafting, housing, roleplay, gposing, group activities, hunt trains, side content like eureka or bozja or relics in general, fc stuff yes some people actually have fun fcs, socializing with friends or random people, glamour, tribes, dungeons, deep dungeons, achievement hunting, pvp, farming mounts or pets, gold saucer, seasonal events, crossover events, leveling an alt or different jobs.
But yeah crazy to think that you can make your own fun in an MMO...what are these friends and...social interactions...disgusting!
Like nothing against people who want to treat the game like it is a single player wasteland that is only worth it cause of raiding but well i weep for your non existing imagination if that is all you see.
I don't do Savage or current-content normal raids outside of alliances when they first come out and have plenty to stay subbed for.
1. Completing all the quests I ignored while going through the MSQ.
2. Completing all dungeons and 8-player raids I ignored while going through the MSQ.
3. PVP for series/seasonal rewards
4. Gold Saucer to cap out MGP for shits and giggles.
5. Gathering and crafting for housing and RP.
6. Roulettes to gear up all my jobs and retainers.
7. RP/venue hopping/chilling and chatting with friends.
8. Tribal quests to max rep
9. Sightseeing Log
10. Mount collecting
11. Minion collecting
Things I've haven't touched yet-
1. Eureka
2. Blue Mage
3. Deep Dungeons
4. Hunts
5. Relics
It seems to me that people who came to MMOs through WoW post-Wrath or other MMOs from that era onward haven't developed the outlook that making little goals for yourself and working toward them is a big part of what makes MMOs fun. The later generation MMOs/WoW expansions started leading players down the path of A>B>C = D and making that the main focus of gameplay that they don't know what to do when they've reached D and A-C are no longer needed. They've never had reason, or sometimes even ability to based on game design, to make their own fun. Giving players a huge array of options to set non-progression/character power increasing goals to work toward is something this game excels at. Unfortunately, the prevalence of D (in this case, raiding) being the only "actual" endgame activity has been so ingrained in people that it's hard for them to see how much more is available to do. Even if that other stuff doesn't mean increasing character power there's still value in doing it and a great deal of worth in finding little things to do to make one's own fun.

Gave the video a watch, even though I have no idea who this person was.
His first reason (family) is more than enough, I won't even go into that one.
Second reason (career) same thing, not going into that one either.
Third reason being New World, I have no idea. I haven't tried it and from watching Asmon play the game it just doesn't seem that interesting, but I actually relate to his point 100% in that I only have the time to commit to a single MMO, and if he wants that game to be New World, then cool.
What I don't understand is what he means by "taking risks" and we can all say what that could mean to us, but if the thread and video are about him then I would have wanted to know what "risks" meant to him (not forum members) because as is, I'm just like... "Whatever that means I guess". Same goes to when he says "it could be better". And yeah, sure but what does that even mean to him? But then he says that's not even the reason why he's leaving so... ok?
Either way, I don't know who this guy is, I've never watched him before and I'm not starting now, so this is rather irrelevant to me. I guess I just wanted to give the video a fair chance, and after doing that I find that I really don't care. Good luck to him I guess.

Raids ARE the endgame at the end of the day. Since the devs want to be WoW and follow that metric. And stuff like Criterion is going to be similar to WoW's mythic+.
Criterion reception would be more positive if the rewards for criterion were good since having a ilvl of 635 is recommended over 610.
Variant dungeon has the better rewards and can be done solo and is more enjoyable due to the Variant action choice per role based around solo or parties.

I think FFXIV takes risks but some of the content is flavor of the xpac(Diadem/Bozja/Sanctuary) while most of the game takes no risks and sticks to a dated formula from 2.0 that peaked in 3.0.
I think the big risks this xpac they've taken is butchering the combat by oversimplifying and forcing everyone to conform or die to RNG Crit and the 2 minute meta and the PvP combat changes.
Combat in PvE is walking on 3 legs and PvP is a success.
A more current issue is the lack of healers and to a degree Tanks.
Healers aren't doing the content either because they don't want to do it or people aren't playing Healer because of how they are designed with 20 heals and one DPS button.
Tank shortage I assume is that those that did the content already moved on and now where you had Tanks you now have none or not enough.
Then you have yet another issue with the discrepancy between Melee and Ranged/Caster.

A pinned comment from his video. Like I asked in my other thread, how is this ok?
Why is this community giving a comment like this upvotes? Could it be some of the toxic positivity some are so eager to sweep under the rug?

Next time why don't you elect to read the full chain following that comment to get yourself some context instead of cherry picking a singular comment to fit your narrative.

This is very clearly a jab at FFXIV and not the creator himself.
Funny enough if you read the reply chain, its actually Lionheardt saying good riddance to Ginger not covering FFXIV anymore, so he's in support of his endeavors. Yet again another classic aveyond-dreams post where he jumps the gun and doesnt actually take the time to really understand what he's reading <sigh>
