So like... Criterion Dungeons apparently are for more hardcore raiders, but they're plagued with weak rewards, which alienates them. Then their only other alternative is 4 Savage fights and a handful of Ultimates they may or may not have already cleared. This is very low in terms of how much other casual content there is out there, and keep in mind that some of it ends up becoming casual content anyway thanks to the ability to Unsynch. Meanwhile, casual people can't be ignored either just because the hardcore people want there to be a bit more. And then there are people who are midcore, and the best they got is Extreme trials. Maybe POTD deep dive.
That's exactly the problem on these forums and in the game as a whole. People just say what they want. "Every patch should deliver hardcore content!" As if there aren't other people to please who are interested in story, roleplaying, pvp, crafting/gathering and casual content.

It's refreshing when I see the minority of people that actually consider others when saying things.

The developers have to juggle balls between all these different types of players while most of those players want all of those balls in their court.

In other news, there is no technical debt from 1.0.
"We don't have ... a technological issue that was carried over from 1.0, because ARR was meant to kind of discard what we had from 1.0 and rebuild it from the engine."

He's right, it's been filled with shark think tanks of Rmt assh*les destroying pf's, even trolling some criterion savage, and sometimes, 24 man raids too a few times, and the whole "pay to erp" and "pay to dance" explosion of rmt wow troll refugees creating nightclubs turning around gamba , porn and millions gil sink since august 2020, making this game unbearable and destroying the mood, the experience overall, they are slowly making this game at their image, utter sh*t.

This is too much, they are eating this game alive with their grief in all aspects of the game that "can"' be griefed or exploited. This is slowly becoming another Age of Conan GM and friends / influencers situation destroying slowly the game within by dripping of privileges given to special groups to profit from side hustles "partof the deal" / job.

I tend to not take seriously these "I'm quitting" posts. Usually the next line uttered is "Can I have your stuff?" lol. I've been around the mmo space for 15 years, whether it was WoW or XIV. You see a lot of these posts. That said, I do agree with him on this one point specifically. I absolutely feel that XIV needs to take more risks and break free of the very rigid formula it's adhered to since it's inception, specifically in terms of what content is released, when, and how much. One of many obvious examples being the fact there's always 3 raid tiers, and each tier consists of 4 bosses. Some will argue that it doesn't need any changing because the formula has worked for them. I argue that doing the same thing over and over for long enough leads to burn-out and a feeling of staleness.

I'd much rather they try new things and take risks, and continue actively engaging back and forth with the community in terms of what ideas are good, versus bad. Maybe instead of just one raid instance, we get 3 totally separate ones, with totally separate themes. Maybe they add legitimate world bosses, similar to special fates, that require TONS of people to down and actually award relevant end-game gear when compared to savage. Frankly, I just want to see them experiment with the XIV content "mold" more. I think their odds of adding beneficial content to the game are far higher than adding something new and everyone hating it...because XIV has always been a game with a variety of different content, and players can pick & choose which they want to do anyway and not really worry so much about FOMO.

For some reason, especially in the housing forum, it's really common for people to treat the community like a monolith. "This [lottery housing] is what you asked for!" and then when dozens of people comment saying "I never asked for this," they get all surprised at like, this nuanced idea that some people wanted something but other people didn't.
Also, just rambling for the hell of it now, but the people I knew who wanted Ishgard housing talked it up (to me/around me personally; i can only speak for that limited group) as being possibly a snowy mountain village sort of thing. When it came out and it was just in that bleak grey-lit district, they were disappointed because it wasn't the snowglobe town they had in their head. But they were still fine with more housing in general, until they learned how the actual lottery process would work. I don't think anyone who asked for a lottery system envisioned one like this in their heads, but it was still a bad idea with a limited time of effectiveness regardless.

Careful, the Illuminati might read this message and think you're onto their all encompassing RMT scam.

Reality is harsh. If someone who actually contributes to the community (like MTQ) leaves and has something to say, I might take notice. Glancing at some commentary on this Brian person, he just sounds like another attention whore.

People wanted Bluemage, they got what they asked for...and they tried to be creative and take a risk on it so that they could retain its identity in the series, and create new content around it.....and people wanna say Bluemage should have just been a regular job. So, thats less incentive to take risks and try new things, when the community says they should just make it work like everything else....and then complain later again that FFXIV isnt taking risks and trying new things.

So then it become an issue of.....do people even know what they want?
If there wasn't a chance it wouldn't be well received, it wouldn't be a risk. They chose to make a fan favorite job into a side attraction, and for better or worse thats very much what it excels at being now.

But for some that risk didn't pan out. Which is fine, and they're both allowed to feel that way and express why they feel the risk wasn't worth the reward. It seems disingenuous to say "you didn't like how this turned out so clearly you don't want them taking risks."

Criterion Dungeons and Ultimate, for instance, were BIG risks that I feel were very worth taking, but Ultimate is frequently first cited by many as "the content that is taking away from everything else."

So mileage may vary, and they should keep taking risks, but I know I'll freely say when I feel the risk failed in my eyes.

I don't participate in, condone, or encourage RMT in any way shape or form. I'd thank you to refrain from libelous statements like that.

At the same time, your worldview doesn't account for people making mistakes in high end content, and assumes the worst of everyone you come across. I cannot agree to that worldview. If you wanna jump at every shadow go on ahead but you shouldn't be surprised the village doesn't scream when you cry wolf.
