I mean, if you're not having fun anymore then you can leave. You shouldn't force yourself to play a game that, for you, used to be fun but is now only boring. Same thing happened to me with the first Overwatch. (I haven't even played the second because I don't trust Blizzard's decision-making skills.)
FFXIV is incredibly fun to me and I still have so many things to get done in it. The only problem is that I can't no-life it because of college courses. :P
I don't know who the youtuber is, since I avoid FFXIV content creators like the plague, but my advice to "The community has changed," would be to just simply not interact with said community. Just do your own thing in-game and avoid communicating with people in or outside of it, such as social media. Just treat it like a regular video game and I think you'd notice your enjoyment would rise. And if the gameplay is still not fun, then I would unsub, if I were you. Just a game. You don't owe your life to it or anything lol.

Its sad to see people go.
But its even sadder that people anchor themselves to any videogame so heavily
To me a lot of the games faults for me is just in general from the game. Not necessarily because EW alone. Honestly the most critical I can give to the additions added in EW such as IS and V&C dungeons is better rewards. Although with IC it's also just me expecting them to add more features and to please for the love of Hydaelyn let this content eventually be where we can build a house. The personal instance is already there! For sure I've always said I've liked a lot of changes, a lot of them have been positive for sure, this expansion has been very mixed for me overall, I get annoyed because theirs so many good things like a new example is adding hard dungeons + exploring ones, but having a negative basically no reward for doing the harder dungeons. In general though I'm pretty happy about the new form of content.
You generally see more negative "news/videos/comments" because they're the most vocal group, does it mean its wrong for them to be unhappy about a change they don't like no it doesn't, aslong as they're being constructive and not attacking people personally (I take big issue with how people act towards the devs sometimes).
We need to be mindful that it's ok to be positive or negative about a video game, what changes you'd like or not.

My major issues rn is the whole raid buff burst changes, now gonna effect my main job (PLD) to a point where i don't know if I'm going to really enjoy playing it anymore. To me a lot of the games faults for me is just in general from the game. I think a lot of people dislike the general raid buff changes in EW. I think a lot of the games "simplicity" issues do actually stem from SHB
EDIT:
Its also if people like the recent changes, not saying that's a bad thing. Some people prefer more simplicity I believe we need a mix of both in job designs.

Just finished watching the video. He brings up a good point about SE being risk averse:
"It's a game that just doesn't take risks. It's a game that we advocated for risk taking, but either they're just too burnt by the original launch, too scared, or from a financial perspective, just isn't in their best interest, and I can respect that, but I wish they would - I wish XIV was a game that took risks." - 7:40 in the video
And of course raises the issue about the toxic positivity of the community:
"it's become a game where the idea that it could improve is such an insult to people versus where in New World, saying the game could improve everybody gets excited... where in XIV it's a very defensive and in a way insecure kind of defensive. I was always kind of confused by that mindset." - 11:20
Good video. Sad to see a player like this leave the community, but I wish him the best of luck nonetheless.
The same people spending a lot of time and effort trying to burn a guy they claim not to know or follow will turn around within the hour and call other people "toxic".
Absolutely astounding.
I don't really follow streamers beyond being my personal patch-reading machines. But hey, going against the orthodoxy, voluntarily dropping a meal ticket and a free invitation to wankfest takes some courage. Good on him.

I find that pretty disingenuous. We just got new stuff like IS and CD & VD. In ShB we got Bozja. Yes, it could be more, but they do take risks. Also, rewards (or lack thereof) have nothing to do with taking risks.
I think when people say taking risks they mean "rework FFXIV again" because indeed it's very disingenuous to ignore the new forms of content we're getting and it's just people getting burnout over a 10 year old game that stayed with it's formula. Which is why I think Brian is excited for New World because it's a relatively new MMO that's finally taking it's stride with recent content patch.
FFXIV has already started to take it's age in the market and it's honestly not its fault. People just want to go for newer things and I feel that's also ok in of itself.
I know for me at least, I play FFXIV because I want to play FFXIV regardless of its faults. I want the game to continue to improve upon itself but not in a way where it drastically needs to constantly change itself or take a lot of risks.

A lot of people don't like how casual the content can be, but if they did the opposite, "took a risk" and made it like how I am told WoW has been where people spend all day every day just preparing for raids, then the casuals would be the ones dissatisfied. Mechanisms exist to allow you to create your own grindy content such as mount, minion, glamour or achievement farming without forcing others into it.
In other news, there is no technical debt from 1.0.
"We don't have ... a technological issue that was carried over from 1.0, because ARR was meant to kind of discard what we had from 1.0 and rebuild it from the engine."
