A game for 4 year olds

So, apparently there is a quest in the Omicron chain that touches upon the relations between dragon and machine. A long conflict which lasted in countless deaths and the majority of the draconic race being exterminated.

So how is this conflict explored then?

They give a ghost dragon a dessert that makes them forget the past and just give up on, being ready to chill with the race that exterminated his, saying that they shouldn’t linger in the past. This is is despite their near-hostile attitude before eating the cake. Vidofnir also doesn’t seem to care much for criticizing Omicrons, even implying that are to to become “friends” instead of old foe.

What the hell is this writing? It’s something ripped straight from a book for four-five year olds’ bedtime stories. “Two boys fought with each other, their mother told them to make peace and so the one that started the fight brought the other a cookie and they lived happily ever after”, except this is applied to planetary extermination.

Tribal quests are not canon. They always do goofy stuff like that in their beast tribe/tribal quest stuff.

To give some additional context, Garland Tools is a quick-stop reference for things such as quest unlocks, along with the scripts of each quest and is updated with each patch release. The entirety of the Omicron questline is available to read on there at the moment should one not wish to participate in the content itself. Given what has just been described in the OP, I can see that the cringeworthy introductory scenes that I had the misfortune of coming across on youtube only get worse as time goes on.

I don't know who this game is supposed to be for anymore, but it certainly isn't 20-30 year old fans of fantasy. More and more, we see stuff that is pulled from either a very childish sort of writing style or something akin to fanfic-level fawning over the game's prescribed favourite characters. With Yoshi supposedly treating FFXIV as more a playground than a job, I have to wonder just what is the matter with the tastes of someone who is supposed to be significantly older than myself. How do they find this sort of thing palatable at all?

That's the problem, the story content's becoming less and less for adults and more and more for children. Previous expansions gave us well thought-out stories for mature audiences. (not mature as in blood/gore, but mature as in not dumbed down for children to understand) The recent stories in Endwalker could be sold as children's books. The 'JuSt qUiT aLrEaDy' excuse doesn't make the shift in the target audience suddenly not exist.

An ancient conflict between dragon and machine? Well everyone has to be happy in the end so I guess we can let bygones be bygones and just come together over some cafe drinks.

I'm not really turned off by light-hearted stuff like some others, but this questline is making me hope that they abandon the whole dynamis concept going forward when the game itself basically admits that "it just works" which doesn't lend itself well to serious story-telling.

What game have you been playing until now?

The beast tribe before this has rebels with hippo carts learn to be a part of society instead of fight against it and then solve their problems with a goofy cart race that makes the bad elephant people become friendly at the end.

You can't blame Endwalker again either. Previous beast tribe quests have us build a pretty pink pom plaza with the moogles, dragons, and Ishgardians and teach them the value of friendship. One where we make a festival for a bunch of cartoony catfish people. Another where we teach a tribe of Vanu to dance with confidence. A questline where you help a teen snakegirl prove she's capable to her mom by helping build a hotel. And last but not least, one where you fight children's nightmares to unlock gates to a pixie dreamworld playground and help Titania's reincarnation be friends with the other faeries again.

While most of the beast tribe storylines have been "eh", this isn't something suddenly new that's become a problem with Endwalker.

Indeed. I still believe that Dynamis is one of the worst plot elements they've ever introduced, and for what? So they could save the failed alien races of Ultima Thule while painting the Ancients as worthy of the tragic fate that befell them? This is what people mean when they accuse Yoshi of having some odd sentiment against the Ancients, whether intentional or not there is an angle from which this unequal treatment can be viewed as spiteful towards a faction that is arguably more worthy of saving than the Omicrons, and others.

Huh. Kinda cruel of you to so casually discount the exploration of Tribal lore and culture like that. A lesser woman might imply something about you from this.

Actually, it is for the context is entirely different. The Omicrons literally destroyed the dragon's entire race a la Frieza~

I don't recall the Arkasadora Tribe quests involving them magickally making Hippo Carts for the Matanga from the Steppes, or the Hyur tribe they defeated who once tried to destroy them. Did you?

Say you're being disingenuous and arguing in bad faith without actually saying it, for your own dignity.

Yes, let's complain about a quest that is near the end of the quest line. In a tribe quest that's about giving the dead ends a reason to live. Depending on how long the dragon souls have been there they've been in despair for a few thousand years. Look how long it took Tiamat to stop being grief stricken and being self loathing. Five thousand years and it took her being told someone went and summoned another version of her brother to snap her out of it.
