I've been getting attacked a lot lately; the post above is a response to such an attack.
It's hardly a rampage, though. I've ignored a lot of those attacks.

I've an iron-clad rule, acquired back in the 20th Century, against posting when upset.
And the moment this forum causes me to lose a minute of sleep, I'm gone. That's not likely.

But that doesn't mean I can't write for emotional effect, as I have been trained to do.
And Anton Ego's soliloquy on being a food critic has some salient points.

Sometimes, i also think to myself to thank the dev and make this kind of thread, but again, i already paid subscription to the game monthly, it doesnt mean i disagree with this kind of thread, it just people need to remember, we played the game for the fun and paid for it, it is the dev duty and obligation to make sure it is fun for the player to justify the player to keep playing it and paid the subscription, it is simply business in the end of the day

I just want to point out that the critics aren't the ones telling you that you can NEVER be positive. All we're saying is that you should be positive when its the right time to be positive and SE does something you like, and that it's ok to be negative when it's the right time to be negative when SE screws up. On the other hand, you have the critic police out in full force, calling anyone who isn't overly positive a 'hater' that should be ignored by polite society.

Define 'haters'. My guess is that 'haters' are people who don't constantly thank SE for everything and actually have the honesty in them to be negative when something's wrong in the game.

You HAVE tried to play internet psychologist with me and pick apart my life (even though you failed massively) to discredit my desire that there would be more content during content droughts. You HAVE been a boastful person who can't make a post without either bragging about themselves or their spouse, or claiming to be the victim when someone rightfully points out what you're doing.

Exactly! And there's nothing wrong with praising the devs when they impress us. But our subscriptions are our thanks for doing the bare minimum, their jobs. Thus if they do not excel, they will receive our subs, but not our praises or thanks.

You've been getting 'attacked' BECAUSE you're going on a rampage. You're showing up to threads, causing problems, then whining that you're getting called out for it. You have it all backwards. Stop the drama and no one will call you out for it. Even me. They're doing their job. And despite my distaste for design decisions, they're doing their job well. But it's their job nonetheless. "Working extra hard"... for what? For fixing the bugs they're supposed to fix?
Speaking as someone who works in software development myself, I wouldn't COMPLAIN about customers thanking me personally, but this is the kind of pet in the head we leave for our coworkers/managers/marketing to give us internally.

This community constantly treats the devs like they're a bunch of emotionally unstable teenagers who will cry in bed if they're not constantly thanked and praised by the community every few months.
No, they're professional adults. Which isn't something people with no career ambition outside of wanting to be a youtuber understand I guess.

I'm all for praising them when they deserve it, as well as criticizing them when it is needed. To be honest though, it seems like a thread like this pops up every time there's some drama over a recent development decision, so it makes me wonder what the intention is.

To give a reminder that most people playing the game really enjoy it, and acknowledgment that the forum community is the smallest minuscule piece of sand on the beach that is the playerbase? It's more reflective of the popularity of FFXIV than anything else - there's simply so many people loving the game right now that even the few among them who spend their time on the forums are speaking up instead of just letting the ever-present echo chamber of negativity go unchallenged.

This comes off more to me as an overly verbose manner of telling those with potentially valid critiques to simply leave and not speak their minds. Not exactly conducive to good feedback if you ask me....
