Weird flex but okay.

Weird flex but okay.
I think the mistake most of us made is thinking that FFXIV's community was actually good. It's just as bad as any other group once you start to dive through it's cracks.
At least it's less so in-game, that's probably the only good thing going for it and even then you can still run some problems.

I never buy to that sentiment, and I'm glad that's what I did.I think the mistake most of us made is thinking that FFXIV's community was actually good. It's just as bad as any other group once you start to dive through it's cracks.

There's no way an MMO community can be THAT good. I mean regulated? Yeah, for sure. Without flaw & can of worms in its cranny and nooks? Just... impossible.

"Outside obvious jokes/sarcasm, I aim to convey my words to the future readers who may come across mine posts. Can I change -your- mind, somehow? Potentially... but that's not why I'm writing. You and I have wrote our piece(s). We don't necessarily need to change each other's mind. But we can change other's."

I'm not sure that this or any other online forum (e.g., reddit) fairly represents the "FFXIV community."
Especially when you consider the non-EN portion of that community.
The JP forums, for example, have a completely different vibe than the EN forums do.
No, the FFXIV community is good. Being in game is a pleasant experience for the most part. Is it perfect? No, but then nothing is. But for the most part players are still having a good time despite the problems.I think the mistake most of us made is thinking that FFXIV's community was actually good. It's the forum communities, that the vast majority of players do not take part in, that have problems. Doesn't matter if it's the official forums, the subreddit or any of the other places that a small segment of the community congregates to discuss the game.
People like to talk about what is outside of their expected experience. Being happy is expected and taken for granted so it's rarely mentioned. Being unhappy is not expected and so ends up a subject of discussion, usually to vent.
And so you end up with mostly negative echo chambers. People gather together to vent, then get angry when others insert their positive opinions. Or vice versa - someone tries to start a positive discussion and those upset join it to point out they're unhappy.
People can have a hard time disagreeing in constructive fashion.
Sometimes you've got to dive into the deep end. Your feelings are your feelings, regardless of those that disagree.I like to make positive posts to help somewhat balance out the negativity. I get that the forums are where we're supposed to go to give feedback, but it seems they're overwhelmingly negative at times. It's during those times I think about making a positive post, but often don't to avoid being called a White Knight or nasty things.
If their best rebuttal is "you're a white knight", why worry about what they think?

Bottom line is, devs get praised when they do something impressive.
If they do the bare minimum (if even that), they dont get anything except this "toxic positivity" that very few people are spreading (thank god), they dont deserve thanks for doing barely anything at all.
Work better, get praises, do the bare minimum, no praises. As it should be.
I just want to point out that whenever anyone says "most people hate X about this game/dev team", people defend them with "not most, only the forums". Which they do: tweets, reddit posts, streamers, cosplayers... The community is known for being nice, and that's what players also tend to externalize the most on other media. A bit too much at times, but rarely ever do you have any negative comment.Bottom line is, devs get praised when they do something impressive.

They have more than enough praise across the internet. This is the place where they ask for feedback, and not all feedback will be pleasant, nor something everyone has to agree with. It shouldn't be the only singular purpose of these forums, but it does contribute to perceived negativity.
Sooo yeah, they do get praise when they do something good. idk why people think that they don't.
What they never get is anything negative unless it's here. And some people just don't like that it exists at all.
I disagree with your entire premise. If something is as I'm expecting (the "bare minimum" as you put it), and I already enjoy it, I would consider that worthy of praise. If it's better than I'm expecting, that's even more so.
So for those that continue to enjoy the game, I think it's appropriate to praise the developers.
That's - by definition - only a participation award.
Think: "Congratulations you, you got your computer turned on all by yourself today! Well Done!" and you see how vapid it is.
And this sort of crap - that seemingly infests schools today - only leads to genuine worthy praise becoming meaningless and worthless.
"Oh wonderful job Mary, you managed to tie your shoelaces! Have a gold star! And you Einstein came up with a new formula for the theory of life, the universe and everything, yes, you can have a gold star too! Now go sit down you two and we will give Jane a gold star for sharpening her pencils"
The bounteous amounts of hypocrisy..
