The Devs need a much needed thanks!

I'm a strong believer in criticizing the bad and praising the good, but sometimes in our community there's a bizarre trend of knee-jerking to deflect criticism when it starts to get serious. The forums obviously get mired in a lot of bad faith toxicity by the same handful of people who dominate the conversations everywhere, but overall; I think that good faith criticism and good faith praise can (and do) exist and are two sides of the same coin. The devs in FFXIV get a lot of things right -- but they also get a lot of things wrong, and it's important to praise them where they knock it out of the part, and offer genuine criticism where they don't without the immediate posturing that someone is either a white knight or just a terminally online complainer.

Personally I think it's off to see people say it's ok to give praise but only when it's worth it. Folks don't seem to realize that's going to vary by the person. What you may feel is worthy of it may not be worthy to someone else. Not up to anyone else to decide what's praise worthy for someone else nor should you shut that down for anyone.

If you have the stance that folks can complain about what they want (which many here do) then it should be the same when it comes to praise.

I'd be curious to see how much ire there would be if someone genuinely made a thread thanking SE for releasing a mogstation item.

Yeah, I do agree with you here in the sense that it is subjective to the individual. My first post here, and any subsequent post after, are all opinions. Do I believe in my own opinions? Of course, I do. Everyone does with what they feel and/or believe. My main point to start was that the intentions of the OP weren't viewed as pure and rereads of their posts sort of reaffirm my suspicion that this thread wasn't created with the best of intentions. Everyone can be thankful and praise what they feel needs thanked for and praising. I just might not agree with what is being thanked for or praised, and others might feel the same. It really does go both ways, and in the midst of all the chaos that is sometimes hard to remember, even for me. What I dislike more than anything is watching people stir the pot in an attempt to start drama or drown out the voices of others, and that's why I responded the way I did. I'm not perfect, but I do consider myself an excellent people reader. At the end of the day, I just want the game to be better, because I know it can be, so I voice my concerns. It's certainly an uphill battle around here, but I will keep trying regardless.

And we've already felt you rapidly mashing your keyboard to fight against their ideas on several occasions. You're literally the king of derailing. If they derail the Venat simp thread it's only because they learned from the best.

Despite this last week and the amount of flak that they received, they work extremely hard to bring us a game that is much loved and enjoyed. The amount of hate I have seen this past week because a class can't do 1% more damage is absurd in the slightest, but then again that is only less than 2% of the community most likely complaining. Those that are complaining are the ones that have zero ideal what they are talking about and are only outcrying what their favorite streamer is telling them to outcry.

Again: Thank you Devs for bringing us an amazing game. I know mistakes are made, we are all human and you all do your best to fix it. I look forward to seeing what you bring in 6.25 and 6.3.
