Beyond having humanoid heads (which everyone except Hrothgar has) I asked if you have anything to back up the idea that male Viera heads are somehow modified male Midlander heads to the point that what looks good on one would look good on another, despite several hairstyles looking different on either of them.

I didn't really read anything that they posted, or has been posted. I was just responding to the image and some of the commentary on that.

As far as whatever this thing about hairs that "should look good on both midlander and viera", now I don't really know the context here, but no, that would not be the case. I mean, sure, it could be argued it's down to personal preference, but aside from that, they both have different facial features, and also midlanders have ears on the side of their head; making particular hairs look more natural. Not all shared hairs would look good due to a variety of factors. Custom adjustments would preferably be made to make them look better, rather than slapping them on a viera head.

All because I said male Viera have wonky fiveheads in certain shared hairstyles just like female Viera do, which is true.

At the end of the day, the design (after 7 months) should have been decided on, whatever the devs decided on their appearance should have long been in development and should at least be at the 3D modelling stage. We will see what we get when they will add them. Even though I would like to see some concept art to have a vague idea of what we should expect. Until then all takes are valid as far as I am concerned. Both the "hyper-masculine linebackers" (whatever this means), the AI-generated ones and the conventional beast beauty like the work seen from Karmaho (I already shown my bias) and the fan interpretation on this thread.

As I said before, as long as you can place them next to the males and make them look like the same species is all that matters in the end.

Agreed. They will have settled on a design and might even be (close to) finished already, they'll sit on their work until they're ready to reveal them regardless.

Yep, which is the only reason why 2/3 of the AI art look off, in my opinion.

Well, they said they looked at quite a bit of fan art before starting work on male Viera, so it's very possible they've seen Karmaho's female Hrothgar art too.

It seemed decently popular and well-received on here at least?

I have already come to accept they will most definitely look more humanoid than the males, because 'beast male, totally-not-a-human female' trope reigns supreme (I'd be ecstatic if proven wrong though), but what I'm curious now is how much more humanoid they will be - will they be more flat faced with slanted eyes and other feline features like that Kimahri fanart or that Bless race, or literally just taller Miqo'te to cut corners, since they know they'd be on the lower end on the popularity scale.

That queen art, for example. Let's preface by stating it's likely just some early concept art, probably from before it was confirmed Hrothgals would actually be made, so it's not set in stone, but let's assume that was/is the design they were going for: That is literally a Miqo'te and you can't tell me otherwise - flat face, human nose, human lips, smooth skin (furless?). The only thing that could "save" that design is if she had yellow sclera and slit pupils with her eyes open.

The other one is just some slight edit I did to make her seem more like an actual cat. The big difference some "fur" strokes can make, huh?

That's a very real possibility yeah, the more beast-like the more design problems it seems.

On the other hand though if they already know they'd be on the lower end of the popularity scale, which is something they've actually said don't they consider a top priority when designing races, there's no reason to not go all out with what they actually want to make. Provided they themselves don't want to follow the 'beast male, totally-not-a-human female' trope you mentioned.
