Blade & Soul totally eliminates the need to mix-and-match. Clothing/armor appearances do not have stats and are kept in a wardrobe where you can exchange them. It's a nice enough system, in that you can switch from PvE to PvP in-game simply by switching out your 'costume'. And they sell glamours, and they sell access to the wardrobe slots themselves, so it's win-win for that Free to Play game.
You don't pay for unlimited storage of dyes and apparel in GW2. It's built right into the database tagged to each character.
