I'm curious how many memes it would take to get a dedicated post on the lodestone about the current healer situation.

We need to commission artwork to represent that we want the healer jobs to go from being sad tragic figures to absolute laser gundam chads, with the scholar fairy being the little mascot that is cheering with pom poms.![]()

I wouldn't consider PvP indicative of what they will do in PvE. They got rid of all job gauges in PvP, they probably won't do the same for PvE. Also they chose Aetherflow as the accent for the SCH Framer's Kit so I doubt it'll go away completely.
The past is prologue
on the talk of "weird gauges".. like.. say about PLD gauge all you want, at least its gauge actually has a reasson to exists in that it shows a progress of your sheltron charge...
Whats the purpose of the eukrasia gauge on sage exactly? why isnt it just a buff icon(it IS already a buff icon btw.. in addition to a gauge, and proc skill borders))? why did THAT warrant its own gauge
like AT LEAST sheltron being removed from a gauge would change how the ability functions mechanically by charging even outside of auto attacks and instead having regular cooldown/recharge(i still prefeer it being linked to autoattacks, it makes planning it a bit more fun, as using it during downtime/untargetable mainboss means you wont get it back till boss is atackable again)
Remove the eukrasia gauge and NOTHING changes mechanically on Sage(not to mention SGE technically has like.. 4 gauges now if you want to be pedantic and count every stack etc seperatly, Addergall Stacks, Addersting stacks, addergall Gauge(the recharge portion) and eukrasia Gauge
Scholar hasn't used Aetherflow in PvP since Stormblood, and it used the fey gauge in ShB for actions. I think it's likely safe to say that PvP directions aren't what they intend for PvE, or else we'd have more of a focus on the fey gauge and would have gotten spreadable Bio with Deployment Tactics
pretty good ideas tbh. quake+tornado=yesThere are so many options they could open up healer DPS rotations with, but taking your idea, it's a no-brainer:
* AST - cards proc DPS spells.
* SGE - have more heal abilities generate addersting and have more spells to spend addersting on.
* SCH - bring back Miasma/Bane, maybe have a regen associated with it.
* WHM - Just give them more nukes. Quake, Tornado, Flood. WHM go kaboom. WHM don't need heal tie-ins.
lol
I'd love for SCH to have a more involved way to generate AF stacks. Not gonna talk about removing dump buttons, but I still think tying AF generation to a offensive spell with charges that recovers MP would be more interesting that just pressing 1 oGCD button on CD every minute.
That isn't a bad idea. Maybe make it a spell that can spread to allies as well. If an ally is hit, it gives them a regen. If it hits an enemy, they get a DoT. Hmm...perhaps make this a circle ground-targeted AoE so we have a return of Shadowflare in a sense?
Context matters, some skills keep up with the times and some don't. Some are just band-aided.
Fey Union was created at a time when raid bosses actually can critical hit a player, that no longer happens anymore. Damage post-SB went to predictable ranges at all times going forward and that has also dampened usage of the skill. Removal of Embrace target allowed the creation of the skill, along with "higher" potency on a resource.
Dissipate is okay, the free resummon change made it more worthwhile. Was created at a time when we had Eos and Selene did different things and the skill was also used to strategically swap. We did a lot of Selene Fey Wind into Eos things in HW. I don't even want to remember when it was part of a optimized pull. Shadowflare where the boss will be pulled, hit Fey Wind, and 5s before pull re-summon into Eos. Everything was more complicated than it was now.
A lot of casual players didn't seem to grasp the idea that once you have fairy skills on cooldown, a lot of down periods can just eat up the fairy for the renewed Aetherflow and heal spell buff. Or before Living Dead change, you'd just use up whatever Aetherflow you had and then eat fairy to get more to heal walking dead and move on. Game changer if party mitigation button is missed somewhere. Reality is it's benefit has gotten less as expansions gone by with improved skills and changes to Aetherflow. Removal of Aetherflow could just make it generate new gauge or enable re-use of self-skills.
Seraph cannot be permanent because of it's heavy shield and recast, it's meant to be strategically used in a fight timeline. The ability to reapply a pumped shield without a cast is very helpful in savage/ultimate mechanics where heavy damage occurs 2x in a short span. Like E12S diamond dust and oracle enrage, P4S curtain call, DSR dark knight/paladin swords, niddhogg stacks, etc.
The reality is more fight timelines outside of savage/ultimate need to enforce use of buttons. It's the same thing I say that forcing tank to hit a cooldown or die to a tank buster shouldn't be reserved for savage. So it doesn't matter if they keep redrawing the deck on skills if the fight timelines don't get harder in difficulty.
Maybe I'm odd but I actually enjoy hitting the Aetherflow button a lot, making sure I don't let it drift is fun for me. I wish Energy Drain would refund MP again though, I don't really see a reason for that to have been taken off of it outside of them trying to give some relevance to Lucid Dreaming, which isn't fun to press. Oh, I also wish they would allow Aetherflow's usage outside of combat again, I would like to be able to use Lustrate and Soil inside cities and houses with friends.![]()
