Whenever I've tried out other MMOs, I really can't help but feel almost spoiled by XIV's "everything on one character" way of doing things. Fortunately the possibility of making alts is still there, if you want to go that route. Personally, I have a sizable backlog of games I'd like to play through (most of em RPGs, I believe), so I'd rather go through that before I start replaying games.

I totally agree with this. Coming from WoW (which I also love, not knocking it), I really appreciate being able to keep everything on one character without hopping between the two. But I think OP makes a good point -- I'd love to see more non-story content added.

I have a backlog of games I've never really touched too, my problem is I can't really get into a game unless I am in the mood to play it. So having a backlog never really works out for me. Always just end up replaying the same things over and over.

Glad to know I'm not the only one with a games list backlog. Though most of mine aren't MMOs. I have stuff like Scarlet Nexus on PS5 that hasn't even been opened yet after buying it on a black friday sale last thanksgiving for about $15 lol

And a ton of stuff I started but didn't finish because I got distracted by something else releasing that I wanted to play XD.

IMO making alts in other MMO games and some offline titles doesn't bother me. Most cases those titles are also more alt friendly with account/save wide unlocks and methods to easily move stuff between your characters. Features I feel would be an excellent addition to this game.

FFXIV is one of the only MMOs I've played for over 5 years. Mine is mostly full of single player games. The MMOs I want to get to at some point is the SWTOR story, ESO stuff, and Fallout 76 stuff. Warframe too, I suppose, it did come out with a new story expansion.

That is what typically happens to me too, I will get distracted by something else when attempting to play some of these games, or I just realize, that I really am not in the mood to devote as much time as is needed for a lot of these games. Much of what is on my 'backog' are long RPG titles: like Outward, for example. I've bought a ton of DLC for games that I have never even touched the content for, for several years..

I don't see the purpose in alts too much in this game, but alts could most definitely use some QoL, like more account wide things and the like.

The sightsee achieves are a serious challenge as well as fun, some of the puzzles to get these are a blast ( I am still working on THAT one in Kugane ). Try getting all the ones for ARR. If that isnt fun i dont know what is..not to mention bragging rights on St Crispin's Day.

After finishing the 6.1 content we were interested in, my spouse and I created new characters and restarted the game from scratch, taking our time.
We're just finishing Heavenward now and are enjoying seeing all the parts of the story we either rushed through before or simply forgot.
And the fact that our new characters have "older sisters" to lavish gil and gear on them doesn't hurt.

I actually resubbed by accident this month. I thought 6.15 was gonna be the 2x glamour storage patch, only to learn that it's coming in 6.2.


I've never groaned so hard about resubbing before like this.

Post expansion launch has some of the minimal amount of content, if you dont really care about keeping up with gear or running ults you are actually better off bailing and coming back within the last patch or 2. The thing with Ffxiv each patch adds something entirely new whole updating some current content, 6.1 cc pvp, 6.2 island sanctuary, 6.3 deep dungeon, so on...

This is a problem I brought up a while ago. FFXIV is one of the most popular MMOs on the market, and yet... Silence. Folks told me that it's because folks are intimidated by the chat rules or something like that. I might encourage an event soon.

Its because MASSIVE fear-mongering campaing from veteran players that "you will get banned if you use chat, because someone gets offended hur hur"

While in reality they probably got few hours/day suspension because they told someone to uninstall or other personal attacks in leveling dungeon where no one should give a two loams about someone dying few times.
