I logged back onto the game and uninstalled the same night

i had an itch to play because i really want to play. i did an expert and leveling roulettes, and i was like, yep still nothing to do in this game. nothing really keeps me around.
i've completed savage during shadowbringers. did bozja and half of eureka. nothing really keeps me around.
i find it amazing that asmon still plays wow after all these years, maybe its the just the fans and streams keeping wow alive. i've never played wow, but maybe it just has more content that ffxiv would benefit from. somebody enlighten me.
i love this game but it isn't much of a game anymore to me. it's like a playable anime.
genshin impact suffers from this as well. sometimes the best art form for your media is not always a game if you are going to take that full story direction.

and every time we as a community make these complaints, there's gonna be that one person like "i've been subbed for 8 years and i always have stuff to do like afk in diadem and go to clubs"
Maybe it would behoove you to listen to what the people that get the most out of their game have to say.

What about achievement hunting, roleplaying, golden saucer, etc?

I played wow for around 15 years. What kept me playing was Roleplaying and achievement hunting with friends.

Some games, and some themes, and some play styles are not for everyone. When content is exhausted, or when you don't find certain aspects fulfilling, you have to get creative.

I feel ya. XIV gets really, really stale for me, and I'll unsub for a month or so here and there, but that's all I can manage due to my house.

Far too many thoughts to get out in a single post, but as a whole, this game is just way too shallow and repetitive IMO. However, I do think that shallowness works for XIV. You can take a break for a year, jump back in, and it won't take you long at all to be completely caught up and sporting end-game gear. XIV isn't anything spectacular, but it's familiar and easy to fall back into...so you resub and then realize there still isn't much to do, and wonder why you resubbed at all. Then you wait until you get that itch again. Tis a vicious cycle. lol.

If this is a legitimate question, it's actually a decently fun online Adventure RPG with gatcha elements to obtaining characters and higher level weapons (none of which are required to play through the game and access any content). Despite the gatcha elements, I've never had to spend any real money to get either a character or weapon that I want, so I'd say it's also rather f2p friendly. It's not an MMO, but you can do cooperative play if you desire.
Note that some features are held back because they do design this game to at least try to run on mobile (but I really don't see how, considering every update is like 2-4 gb in size, etc.).

@Op, in most cases, it's about finding something that you want to do, and then making it happen. Unfortunately, that does mean that you don't always get a perfect experience, but at least it's something.
If you're looking for something else to try out, even if just for a little while, might I suggest PSO2? PSO2 and PSO2:New Genesis are both interesting experiences that are different enough from the games you've listed, so they may provide something of a fresh experience for you while still retaining certain concepts that will be familiar.

Yeah this is why I wish you could sub for time frames that are less than a month. I end up resubbing and finishing what I wanted to do in like 3 days and then I'm done, but still have all this time left I'm not using on my subscription lol

Isn't the .1 patch of an expansion usually without many things to do anyway? Side content like Eureka, deep dungeon, etc are never that early.

I feel the 1st patch is always a slow one for people that only care for "endgame" activities of the current expansion.

Fair enough. The risk/reward aspects of gambling do make gambling enticing.
As far as RP goes, most of the time I go to clubs people are already occupied or not speaking at all.
This is a problem I brought up a while ago. FFXIV is one of the most popular MMOs on the market, and yet... Silence. Folks told me that it's because folks are intimidated by the chat rules or something like that. I might encourage an event soon.
It's probably a blessing that you're unaware of genshin impact lol. I figured with ff being a weeb game, some players have heard of it.
Strange enough, I watch some anime and play some japanese games, but I was never really heavy into "weeb territory" myself. I just use Japanese entertainment as a failsafe, because they tend to focus on entertainment rather than shoehorning in controversial topics.

Maybe stuff will be figured out on how to help you get the most out of the game. With so many users, there's a lot of ideas!
