Just because you couldn't get anyone to talk in Limsa doesn't mean that nobody talks in the game. I see talking regularly when I join any party in party finder, in the novice network, my FC and CWLS, in shout in places like Bozja, Zadnor, Eureka, Ul'dah or in /say at Gridania. It may not be very common in dungeons but it does happen in dungeons as well if you do enough of them and it happens a lot in alliance raids.
So you haven't enjoyed things like Bozja, Zadnor, DR, ocean fishing, the firmament restoration or crystalline conflict which many other people have enjoyed?
The jobs have been made easier to get into for new players. There was a time when I would never have imagined a new player being able to play DRK. We might be at a point where jobs shouldn't get any simpler but what has been done so far has just been to make them more polished and remove pain points such as pressing the wrong button and breaking your entire rotation, causing a 75% damage loss. So now pressing Holy Spirit instead of Confiteor doesn't remove half of PLD's magic combo and you can't overwrite 3 procs on DNC by pressing Flourish.
I wonder why you think the community has taken a downward turn when the latest Active Character estimate is 1.7 million which is between 700,000 and 1 million more than a year ago.
I've been playing for years and battle design is as good as ever. The mechanics in Pandaemonium are intriguing and make you think constantly, otherwise you would drop debuffs and aoes on people, cleave everyone, mis-count or not swap or position correctly and wipe the party. I've even seen a lot of healers in Pandaemonium having to spend over an hour coordinating their heals and mitigations because earlier in the tier, raid-wide damage actually wiped everyone if not mitigated. The new alliance raid seemed to be universally praised for mechanics and the latest dungeon has lots of fun ideas like spinning and lasers. The laser one is fun because I've already had to solo the boss a few times.
What? I'm extremely excited about the new direction of the story and where we are going next patch. I think a lot of people are as well.-The story of 6.1 left many disappointed, and the new story this patch not only killed off the hype it generated but it was a retread of skalla. If even the story is getting crap, then what about the rest of the game? The only core compenent of ff14's experience that hasn't gone downhill is the music
