New hrothgar hairstyles are really bad.

If you're really curious you can hop back in the pages to when Zhexos first posted here, a good amount of us voiced our opinions and offered our feedback. I think now it would be appropriate for the devs to at least acknowledge and echo back some of our points of feedback so that they can start to build back some trust regard the issue of how they're handling Hrothgar.

Remember that it had been three years of very little information about the hairstyles, during those three years there was no communication with the players about what paths they were taking to make Hrothgar hairstyles work, if they had asked for our feedback when it was decided that removing their ears was the only solution other than just letting them clip then the community surely would have told them that isn't what anyone wants.

I'll also say that when new Hrothgar hair was announced it was described as "racially specific" so imagine our surprise and disappointment when the new hairstyles were revealed to be the same six that Viera were given (curated to fit Viera aesthetics) and have our ears removed from our heads. I understand that you might not want to read through so many pages in a thread, but I think it's important to at least have empathy when talking with a community that just got pooped on

Welp, first off, they didn't tailor pick the hairstyles for Viera. They're going "5.X + oldest" pretty much and working their way through expansions of hair. Prob cause that makes the most sense. You can predict which are next by looking at which show up next on the hair-number-line. Viera are just ... human faced. Shockingly, they will look better in any human hair than Hrothgar who have to have hair that's not even attached to their forehead to get around the differences in their 4 cat faces.

I also think "Just let it clip" may be a nonstarter for YP. It's easy to say that, until you see how crap it makes the race look in game. IDK if that's an option he would even consider, they don't even want Viera ears clipping too much which is why they seemingly poke holes where the ears meet the hair. Could be some processing foolery behind that. Hrothgar got 4 completely different ear shapes and sizes, they don't come from a uniform origin like every other race.

Also, what if they're plans for "racially specific" hair was "1 new hairstyle an expac"? They NEVER said how many they were willing to make or if they would be locked to new faces/heads or what (they never intended to give yall the power to change hairstyles back then, remember?). They rarely make new hair for the whole other 98% of the playerbase, thinking that they may have intended on giving Hrothgar just 1 an expac when they can only bother to release somewhere between 6-8 for everyone else an expac isn't too extreme a guess. Many Hrothgar wanted a selection of hair/ non-potion hair swapping and shared hair annnnd had 2-3 years to bend their ear about it ... so that's what they got.

And I wanted to know the run down on what people settled on because it should be easy to tell if people are NOW demanding some form of feedback from the devs. He set the terms for ya, you either get them the way they are doing it now or you get "racially specific" hair that's far fewer in numbers and far less frequently, or you make some suggestions that might help I guess (JPN with the "Make more ear headgear" seems like a good start. There's also the fact that they can look at what people actually do in game, most times I see Hroths with the shared hair it's with the Fox or Wolf ears, so they may think its cool to make more suitable ears gear and stay the course).

when can we expect to see the community be addressed in an official capacity regarding these hairstyles? this is not something that will just go away on its own and the community deserves better communication regarding how this is being handled, if at all.

that's what needs addressed. what is the solution moving forward beyond "geez guys, this is really hard, why don't you just be happy with the scraps"?

They DID address you, they told you to voice your option and give feedback. They are asking you to tell THEM what you want, well knowing that there's gonna be drawbacks to w/e you pick. If you think there's been enough discussion, then what have people landed on other than "Not happy"?
