They did state from the outset that neither viera or hrothgar would really be able to wear headgear. Prior to release it wasn't expected for them to get headgear. It was supposedly some devs taking time out of their days that made the minor headgear they get possible at the time. I've never expected headgear, not that I think players should necessarily accept that stance, especially now. At the very least they could make a little more pieces available, like the iconic job gear, but I digress. The thing that they DID say these races would get were hairstyles - racial specific ones. Even if Yoshida was saying that he said they wouldn't receive any hairs, for some reason.

I think the graphical update will largely just be a new coat of paint, and it might make minor things easier to add. I do have a little hope it'll make more tangible things easier to add, but as far as viera/hrothgar are concerned, I expect they will be largely ignored regardless. Unless there is some breakthrough hrothgar specifically will likely be in a very similar boat as now.

Like with female viera, the development time and resources were spent on male viera, what could have gone into male hrothgar will be spent on female hrothgar. I was a big advocate in the past that female viera/male hrothgar should have been *fixed* or updated prior to the release of male viera/female hrothgar. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. I was annoyed for a pretty long while after male viera were announced, and I have probably dozens or hundreds of post specifically on the matter, making my opinion loudly known.

Yeah, I thought that was really weird too. You would have thought if they fixed the aesthetician it would have been something they would announce, like "we listened" or something. It was just stealth added. Something does seem to be odd about the whole situation surrounding hrothgar.

If most hrothgar don't use the styles and also try to make their voices heard as best they are able across platforms, that they want custom *quality* hairs sure. Normally, I'd say vote with your wallet, but I'm not sure they would care much if hrothgar players mass unsubscribed since they aren't that high of a demographic in the first place.

I distinctly remember the devs stating that they were looking to implement new Hrothgar fur patterns at some point, my partner remembers it too. Anyone else, and anyone remember which live letter it was mentioned?

    Hello Zhexos,

it has been 16 days since your post regurgitating previously stated excuses for Hrothgar hairstyles, and 27 days since their disastrous reveal to the community. we have had five official posts regarding housing, one regarding player behavior in PvP, and an announcement for the winners of the Weapon Design Contest in the intermediary. when can we expect to see the community be addressed in an official capacity regarding these hairstyles? this is not something that will just go away on its own and the community deserves better communication regarding how this is being handled, if at all. we understand that the dev team are busy, but this needs to be officially acknowledged as well as communicated as to how the issue will be addressed.

The longer they ignore the issue the more disrespectful it becomes. I'll be unsubbing once I finish my commitment with my raid group on the current tier at this rate.

That may seem drastic, but the game has had so many issues and over-simplification the last couple years that hrothgar were the main reason I was even still subbed.

they said a lot of things in the early days ahead of their release in ShB tbh. lots of "they can't wear headgear but we pushed the boat out on customisation options for them" that never came to pass.

I know I will once Housing is properly fixed. I'll get my FC's house and then unsub. 6.1 has just been too much for me, with Hrothgar being the worst.

    - 3 years of people asking for attention for these races with nary a word about Hrothgar and their problems
    - Though Hrothgar updates were promised, the devs refused to show anything about their work in the Live Letters about the patch
    - The final LL drops on April Fool's, with awful renders, a lot of laughing, and a selection of hairstyles the majority of the playerbase has deemed unacceptable, unfitting and mocking. Mere rehashes of what Viera got
    - The announcement that legacy races were being rehauled while still having two incomplete races in dire need of attention, despite years of feedback on the subject
    - The sheer dismissive attitude and perceived disdain toward Hrothgar from Yoshida about having to give attention to the race, and the subsequent answer that convinced no one
    - The same answer being recycled by a community representative, Zhexos, and the silence after the player-issued evidence, suggestions, outrage and feedback that followed
    - Said evidence includes: the shoddy way Hrothgars were edited, how their features were applied, their overall messy implementation which causes long-term problems, as well as presenting amateur fan-made content with much better quality
    - The Aesthetician only being a last-minute change on the patch notes, dismissing the years of Hrothgar needing real money to change hairstyle. A feature that's also shoddily done (duplication of heads and no access to other faces' hairstyles? Really? Modders have done better)
    - Housing being broken on-launch. How was something this simple not caught on testing and quality assessment? I understand some bugs tend to pass, but usually those are sneakier than the mess this one caused
    - The subsequent answers issued on Housing while Hrothgars were given silence yet again, a repeat of the 3 years we've had to deal with. Including the prospect of having to wait more years to have any real attention POTENTIALLY being awarded to us
    - Many more other bugs that got exploited and had an impact on gameplay, particularly in PvP
    - The delayed fix of Housing which is dragging on for nearly a month post its implementation with only half the playerbase being able to enjoy it
    - Features specifically being presented as "Beta" and work almost like a nearly-finalized Alpha version: Adventurer Plates

6.1 may not spell the end for FF14 but it definitely soured people's enjoyment. It's certainly no 1.0, but it's definitely lacking. We have stuff that shouldn't have been released in their current state. A highly anticipated patch for many turned into disappointment after disappointment. I get they're understaffed, busy with other projects, or have different priorities, but bloody hell: Get a grip!

They put the 0 in the house lotery to use it as an excuse to ignore us

Agree with everything you said. Sad state of affairs, on top of me not enjoying the current class design other than bard. I just can't anymore. If it wasn't for my house and me probably never being able to get another one if I do come back I would have unsubbed awhile ago...

    Hi hi !
Made an account just for that because I can't stay quiet about it anymore..
What in the actual nightmare fuel is this ?
Yeah sure I expected nothing, but that presentation really felt like mockery, these hairs are so badly put together a 5 years old child could have draw it and nothing felt professionnal.
Yeah I'm a little late to react on that, but I was busy enjoying the game so far.
I began in Shadowbringers giving me the chance to experience the whole game with my current Hro character which I grew very attached to.
And that's how the actual dev team intends to treat him and my furred colleagues ?
I'm so disappointed in this direction, can't my char grow alongside other races and change appearence/hairstyle every once in a while ?
So far it was a no, but now I got access to ***one*** other hair (which was honestly supposed to be an option from the start) and the unlockable ones are either female or childish hairstyles, not cool (except the bean one I guess but there's better done elsewhere).
I have no idea what limitations they're talking about but from what I saw, some Bozja npcs somehow break rules I guess.
There's so little communication about it and it makes no sense whatsoever.
How is ear clippling a problem when there's clipping litterally everywhere, especially with horned and tailed races ??
It feels like a "Nah don't ask anymore questions" kind of explaination.
I won't even began with the serious lack of Hro representation in Endwalker, we're like an extincted race at this point but at least I'm the main character in my story I guess.
They obviously don't know how to design them properly because everytime ones appear in a LL or as a random npc, it looks like they took a color randomizer and went with whatever came out.
It's a miracle we're even a thing in the first place, and I'm very glad the base design is solid and holds up on its own.
I guess we just have to keep being vocal about it, and show that even if 2% of japanese players play this race, they have to be professionnal about it and accept the fact THEY added them in the first place and treat them at least a little better than what we got so far.
I can't wait to see how they're going to handle the female version, at this rate I'll just get my pop-corn ready.

What more is there to "address" at the moment?

Am I missing something? He addressed yall by saying "here are the choices/ reasons and drawbacks, give us feed back so we can make a decision". Has there been a consensus reached in the past couple weeks other than "I don't like the thing"? I've seen a number of Hrothgar just use the fox ears, perhaps the JPN suggestion of making more ear headgear is popular? Yall want the shared hair BUT with trashy clipping like the mods? Yall want to roll the dice on maybe getting 1 hairstyle an expac by going the unique hair path?

I see a lot of talk about communication and crackpot theories about things in recent pages and not much else.
