Romantic relationships are inherently sexual relationships. That's why it creeps some (most) people out when the romantic camp pushes their point. Also a platonic relationship is a far more interesting one, as it is devoid of sexual connotation.
Yet by your logic, a platonic same sex relationship is LITERALLY impossible, because any reference to them being non-straight is sexualization. Yet if they just happen to be man and women, its just ok?
Does playing the victim make you feel better? Cause it sure provides us with a chuckle

So fresh it'll smack yo momma!!!
I do not think it is really that black and white. Like there are people who consider themselves asexual. They still have romantic feelings and relationships, but are often devoid of that sexual need. Romance and sexuality are things that can be separate, even if they often do entwine. Really relationships should be judged on their own individual merit. I do agree that platonic relationships can be some of the strongest and most interesting in storytelling (And opposite sex friendships I feel are still rarely found without romantic or sexual notions, unfortunately) but I think it would be a shame for any wider work of fiction to disregard platonic or non-platonic relationships entirely.
You're saying there's something sexual about little Timmy realizing he has a crush on little Jimmy? Interesting.
