Children do not have the comprehension to make such decisions. Which is why most people have issues taking adult understanding of relationships and transplanting those onto children and those that do not have comprehension of such matters. In short, it's creepy.
It doesnt matter what sexualisation a character has. Not only is it 99% irrelevant to any plot (unless youre writing erotica novels or similar stuff), it is also lame if you use this trait as the only redeeming quality a person has.
Also, this is Final FANTASY and not Final Reality. If anyone wants to do this kind of buisness under a RP Flag, then at least do it with some discretion and be mindful about others, since not everyone shares your ideals.
Tl;dr: imagine having common sense and discretion.
So are you suggesting that same sex relationships should be omitted simply because they are a part of the real world? Why then do we have heterosexual relationships, or humans, or buildings, or any of the numerous things that also exist in reality? It doesnt matter what sexualisation a character has. Honestly I never get the whole ‘Politics should not be included in fantasy’ argument. I find that it, and Sci-Fi, are one of the best creative palettes to explore almost every issue important to mankind. Like Star Trek in sci-fi regards, and the politics of FF7, often regarded as the best fantasy video games of all time, just keeps getting more and more poignet as the years go on. Then again, I also think its nearly impossible to create a work of fiction that is apolitical. We are all guided by our believes, values, morals etc. and writers are no exception.
Why is this thread still going?
Want an Alphabet character in the main cast (Cause there are a NUMBER of examples to find in the game that's not spot lighted in the MSQ. Bounder Bros having a 3 way with a Female Highlander comes to mind)? Play your character that way. The game doesn't need to bend over backwards to appease these narcissistic desires.
Never said anything like that whole last paragraph. I agree. They aren’t ready. I just think they also aren’t ready for politics or religion. All of that requires an adult mind to comprehend.
Teaching them that sometimes two men or two women get married and that is just fine isn’t overtly sexual at all. No child would take it that way and it is your own perversions and fantasies that make it overtly sexual.

All the Estinien/Alphinaud Yaoi out there begs to differ.FF14 is a wonderful game. It's beautiful, the gameplay is fluid, the lore rich, and the graphics stunning, especially in the Azim Steppe.
Part of the reason why it's so wonderful is because it is possible to fully immerse yourself in this game. Characters all have a backstory, many NPCs are fleshed out, have their own personality, and you really feel like Eorzea is a place you can live in.
However, the lack of representation of LGBT characters in this game is frustrating for a billion-dollar video gaming company. While I applaud SE for allowing the Eternal Bonding to take place between two people of the same gender, there is not much else in this game that represents LGBT characters, other than a token gay couple in Upper La Noscea.
Some people will also bring up characters like Alphinaud (weird) or Haurchefant, and say they're "WOL-sexual". But you know that they're not actually designed as gay characters. They just happened to be perceived as LGBT because of the fandom.
Many other RPGs are already fully embracing the need to represent minorities in their game, because minority representation is an important issue that affects the psychological development of minority youth.
I hope to see Square Enix do more to represent LGBT characters in their game, because by doing so they'll let LGBT youth feel like they have a place in Eorzea and feel welcomed.
I know some people will think I'm joking, but I'm not. As a LGBT PoC myself, I am deeply invested in this issue.
