On a side note, the fact that SE has to re-explain parts of the story via a LL, in an attempt to clear up any confusion, speaks volumes about the quality of this expansion's writing.
I mean...I certainly didnt need it. I understood the story just find, I didnt honestly needed to know every single minute detail or decision for why characters do the things they do. Otherwise lots of things in this game's entire story wouldnt make any logical sense if we try to understand everything. Why didnt the Ascians just destroy the Scions when they were clearly shown how easy it was to kill them when they wanted to? Why did Emet-Selch came to hang out with the Scions when the entire time he believed we would fail and would want to kill us anyway? Why did the Warriors of Darkness buy Elidibus's story about "saving" their world by sacrificing the Source to the rejoining when they clearly saw first hand that wasnt going to fix it?
Anyway all Im saying, its that I was fine going with what the narrative presented to me throught my entire time playing through the msq in this game. Having to now suddenly be challenged by everything is just not something I felt really needed when FFXIV's plot is nothing but jrpg tropes...just done slightly better.
Anyway this'll be my last post for this topic. Were very much angering the OP and other posters who want to focus this thread into what the title is about lol.
I wouldn't say it's perfection that people are seeking in the story, but the critical plot points should be elaborated on properly, especially for an expansion that seeks to conclude roughly ten years of story writing. You were satisfied with what was presented but some were not which is why the devs were asked questions about the story during the LL. If these questions about the story didn't have some validity or raise legitimate concerns, the fans asking them probably wouldn't have had their questions presented to the devs during the LL in the first place.
