    well we are going to hit that double DPS release time with 7.0 expansion if we still follow the pattern on how jobs are released each expansion.

    So probably expect 1 melee dps and 1 range dps in 7.0

    with the situation in endwalker and how technologie will be shared thanks to it, i can perfectly see a jobs that will use dual pistol sharing gear with ninja. the physical ranged dps version of the red mage, that will have mostly range attack and some combo at melee. will not be that strange since we did seen a revolver in endwalker if you remember.
    and other jobs will depend of where we go next, where the story move to... they can add a new jobs link to the new area we will explore in the next expansion and surprise us with something different.

    I honestly won't be surprised if they get a bit creative with future jobs during season 2 storyline due to how they may handle the civilizations in Season 2 storyline.

    Emet hinted the civilization we have not seen yet may surprise us with how different they are from what we are use to seeing which implies many possibilities including a civilization maybe far more advance than ones we know now technology wise or even one that has taken a more magical theme path. Another may even be a modern day setting with cars, television, and smartphones if they wish.

    We just have to prepare to expect anything and expect nothing with what we may encounter in Season 2.

    If you can think of a set of terms to call the weapon that do not include "pistol", "revolver", or "flintlock", then it may be possible.

    Otherwise, it isn't happening because those are MCH's naming conventions and as I have stated in several threads the jobs are very consistent about not stepping on each other's weapon names. There are only a small handful of exceptions across the whole arsenal.

    Why not? They took daggers away from Paladin.

    They can just as easily rename all the machinist "pistol" weapons to "carbines"--which would be more accurate anyway--and give it to a new dual wield class.

    MNK had chakrams for one raid tier in SB before the devs assigned them to Dancer and DRK had access to a long katana in HW.
    It would actually be beneficial to have a backlog of smaller gun models to give to a theoretical Corsair/Merlwyb job during the leveling process, in the same way they repurposed old gear for new jobs. And having two of them is enough of a distinguishing feature not to step on MCH's toes.


    That being said I hope whatever new job is added has more of a grounded adventurer feel to match the story reset.
    As much as I love Sage, Astrologion and Gunbreaker, I have a hard time imagining them alongside the weapon based starting classes like Gladiator and Lancer.

    Gunblades are... I always wonder what the lore reason is why they've not taken off.

    It's a sword, and you can fill it with spells, and you don't even have to prepare the spells yourself. I'm always left wondering why it's so uncommon. Even if you're not good with it, suck at doing the timed explosion bit, and mostly just use it like a regular sword, it's still a sword that can fire off a regen or shield or whatever at the pull of a trigger. Why would anyone not want that compared to a normal sword?

    Not to mention jobs in past FF games do have a tendency to share the same type of weapon in their own way. FF14 developers manage to make this happen while still going around this by specifically categorizing them as different types of the same weapon for the Jobs.


    They can easily go around this again with any future jobs. As a example, if they were to introduce Rune Knight they can name their weapon Rune Swords while designing them to a specific style that always have runes on them.

    Gunslinger Job can easily fall into Dual Revolvers instead of being just called Revolvers so they go around the naming issue by always mentioning the Dual aspect in the name or name the two revolvers as different names.

    It is the same if they wish to add a new job that use Shortsword which they can literally design the weapon and naming based on shortswords.

    Swords are of course much easier to handle with this type of thing because there are far more ways to make swords unique from each other by name and design but other weapons can be done the same as well if a "certain point of view" is properly utilized.

    Heck if they wanted to they can introduce a Rifle Job for a pure DPS gun focused Sniper Job or a Shortbow job maybe as a Healer job made to represent Rosa from FF4.

    I just want another heavy DPS caster. Not really a huge fan of black mage, but I hate the rez and mobility taxes of red mage and summoner. The only role that is split between progression jobs and speed run jobs.

    None of the other DPS classes are balanced in this way. You either selfishly deal damage, or your personal DPS is a little lower because you boost of the damage of your party.
