    I just want another heavy DPS caster. Not really a huge fan of black mage, but I hate the rez and mobility taxes of red mage and summoner. The only role that is split between progression jobs and speed run jobs.

    None of the other DPS classes are balanced in this way. You either selfishly deal damage, or your personal DPS is a little lower because you boost of the damage of your party.

    So you want all jobs of a specific category to play the same?

    Dude changing the caster rez isn't going to make all the casters play the same. It's one button that in fact, I believe no dps should have. Rezzing should honestly be a healers problem not a dps problem. DPS is that a dam per second job and should really only help a party through buffs and maybe some utility to help negate damage is taken or high personal dam but they shouldn't have to worry about picking ppl up off the floor. The caster rez is really overrated as a utility and causes balancing issues in the only dps role that has to deal with it.

    Also question since the caster role is the only role that deals with rez does that mean you think all the melee and p.range play the same? If not then why do you think the rez makes rdm, smn, and blm unique from each other?

    And yet you advocate for needless pruning. Just go play black mage if you don't want a job with utility and group responsibility.

    And since this is a thread about what new job could exist, I hope the next dps caster comes with a raise, buffs for allies, and debuffs for enemys.

    I dont play blm bc I hate the job and dont like it get favoritism from Yoshi P. Yeah Im lil saltly my long time main got a rework that completely gutted it since the devs dont know what to do with smn or care. If you want to talk about needless pruning I can talk your ear off about the state of smn right now. At least my "needless pruning" would help bring balance to the caster role and stop the whole prog caster vs speedrun caster thing you see in pf and in the community. The whole "play blm" statement you said is the reason we need to look at the rez bc during prog there are ppl who say "play rdm we need the rez." to blm mains and after prog ppl say "play blm we need to kill this boss faster" to rdm and smn mains. If we dont at least do something about rez then I hope we get a caster who is closer to blm with lil uility like a buff but no rez, to help balance them a little more. Also, I like how you completely skip my question about how the rez makes the casters unique to each other lol.

    Random comment but would be very interested to see a caster who has a set of Combo actions like the melee 1-2-3 set from samurai, and depending on what order you cast those in gets a small finisher and then after 3 different small finishers you get a big one. So playing similar to a ranged monk/samurai feel at ranged and with spell casting. Included in this would hopefully be that the cycle finished every 40 seconds or so, so that every 2 minutes is the big ability. Also would love to see an ability that could proc off a dot and is guaranteed at each small burst window (3 stacks on the weave ability for damage?). This gives the stack up and save for burst windows, but allows for early dumping if maintaining proper dot management.
