I have an alt to buy for my FC for this reason, you still have time to do the same seeing as the 30 day timer only applies to transfer of leadership.

They had said in the live letter that it would also apply to giving members a rank with land acquisition privileges.

What is uncertain is if an alt could be added as a new member to a FC today and given a rank with land acquisition privileges, and would then retain the privilege once 6.1 is released since they would already have been given the rank and privilege under the current rules. SE doesn't tend to remove things retroactively.

At this point, there's no harm in trying just in case. It won't make a FC any worse off, and it might actually work to its advantage.
