Nope. 100% lottery, please.

Another vote for SOME FCFS wards, just so we have a fair chance at running in to get something. I hate that we had to give up our housing to transfer, wait so long without housing and now we're slapped in the face with a MAYBE lottery win...

I am wondering if the issue with all wards being lottery on OCE is stemming from opening the old wards at the same time as Ishgard and therefore the change in the housing system?
If the problem lies in the coding and separating out one data centre from the rest in terms of implementation of the 6.1 patch, then surely it would make more sense to simply release the old wards a week or two ahead of 6.1 under the current system?
Perhaps we, the OCE data centre players affected, can get together and brainstorm a way in which to make this suggestion to the devs while we still have time?
Does anyone have suggestions?

It's too late, though there will be plenty of houses though, probably more houses than players actually.
Anyone who wants a house on Materia and is not picky will definitely get one, unless you are trying for one of those unicorn plots which well, I wish you good luck.
I actually don't think so. There are a lot of people on Materia, and a census of "4 person, rank 6 FCs, where the FC leader is level 1" is surprisingly large. The gil sellers have been very busy preparing to get their stock.
I think quite a few of the poor souls on Sophia especially will be missing out.

It's not a surprise at all. RMT knows a prime opportunity to get in and control a significant part of the market. They will be jumping on everything in any FCFS wards hard before moving to lottery entries with the characters that didn't manage to pick up something in FCFS.
I doubt it will be limited to just FC houses, either. This would be the perfect time for RMT to start selling service accounts with a personal house attached considering the number of new players starting the game. There are bound to be curious people happy to pay to bypass both early leveling and the headache of trying to get a house. They'll have the level 50 Fantasia to race/gender change to their liking, can pick up any of the jobs they want to play if the original isn't to their liking, and have NG+ if they want to experience the ARR MSQ after all.

Easy solution to this is to just open all wards now with fcfs rules and house random timers enabled and expanded randomly for up to a weeks time total.

They are not going to do that clearly
Dust is settled whether people like it or now
It is lottery only even for Matria
The way this system is designed, and being applied to materia, makes me deeply regret giving up my houses to come here.
Good luck getting a plot on Sophia or Ravana, the only saving grace might be that the population isn't high enough to fill all the wards. Of course there will be a rush towards the end of the first draw, to get bids down on plots that nobody else has bid on yet. Leaving scraps at best for anyone who missed out in the first round.
Also this:
Is a slap in the face to FC leaders. We have to choose between buying a house for our FC, or buying one for ourselves? And/or ask the same of our officers?Characters who fulfill the requirements below are eligible to submit one lottery entry per lottery period.
I was actually looking forward to the lottery system, but this is poorly designed.

I have an alt to buy for my FC for this reason, you still have time to do the same seeing as the 30 day timer only applies to transfer of leadership. The way this system is designed, and being applied to materia, makes me deeply regret giving up my houses to come here.

The way they handled the Materia data centre has really dimmed my view of the devs, I gave up a large house to support the move and this feels like a slap in the face from them.
