I'm not blaming anyone, I'm explaining the sequence of events to players who probably weren't around 8 years ago or so.It's a bit disingenuous to blame the demo system on players. Yes, players asked for it, like we asked for the lottery system. It's a band aid fix on a terrible system that will never have anywhere close to 'sufficient' capacity for meeting players' desires.
Almost everyone that's advocated for those things would rather have a system where they're simply not necessary. However, since SE is incredibly stubborn about sticking with it, it leaves us players with the only real practical option being to suggest which bandaids will make the bulletholes bleed a tiny bit less. Because SE might actually do those, but definitely won't give us better underlying system no matter how much we ask.
Well I feel like the only way we'll get a system where everyone can have a house was if they moved to individual instanced houses. Housing wards are actually kinda server intensive. You have a pretty large area with about 30 unique houses, each with front yard stuff that can be configured in all sorts of imaginable ways. And the game has to keep track of all of this as long as the housing instance is open. And as long as at least one person is AFKing somewhere within the instance, the game has to continue to keep track of everything. And I dunno about most FCs, but mine basically always has at least someone hanging out in front of the house which means our ward basically is always in action. Now imagine that every single ward is like this, and the game has to keep track of every piece of furniture in front of every single house on every single ward potentially 100% of the time. That's a fair amount of server power. It's a bit disingenuous to blame the demo system on players. Yes, players asked for it, like we asked for the lottery system. And the reason individual houses would likely fix that is that the game only ever has to keep track of one house per instance and MOST people don't AFK in front of their homes, meaning every single home that doesn't have someone in front of it can easily be cycled out. Which leads to a lot less server stress. I think this system would allow everyone to get a house, but we are a few expansions too deep into the game to get an overhaul like that without pissing off a lot of players unless they did both. I know there are rumors that the hidden islands are gonna allow for individual housing, so maybe that'll put a relative end to this. We can only hope.
with yoshi-p's stance on "just play other games" it's gonna continue.
Because holding housing hostage is contradictory to that stance.
They can though, add more housing *shrug*
This, the only thing I want to see demolished is the house demolishing system. Stop putting blame on the players for your flawed system and fix your shit.Holding players houses hostage if they take a break from the game is a terrible system anyway, especially when it's because they refused to do instanced housing despite having no way to keep up with the demand of an entire player base.
"Well, we'll never have the server space for our unrealistic system, so to band-aid that we'll blow your house up if you take a break". Great.
The primary function of demolish timer is merely release plot from hand of players arhat are per mantle quit.
Holding house as hostage is nothing but lack authentic claim.
If that is their intention, they wouldn’t constantly pause the timer and a lot of time took it long enough to turn it back on.
The timer also flash out house from hand of those players who didn’t even enter their own house.
There is instanced house in the game already called FC room and apartment and both are big enough to decorate into a lovely home.
In this case, this is a rather bad timing to ask SE to turn the timer back on because of Ukraine war.
I am curious if you actually believe you can win a lotto when the odd (once-a-week) housing demo restarts?
Once house comes up, pretty much the entire server gets a day or maybe even more to put their bids in.

Its time to remove the demolition forever imo. Shameful practice from SE.
We have an active subscription =we keep what we have paid for...period
♥ MORE HIGH HEELS + INSTANCED HOUSING! ♥!
Yes, the housing system sucks, an the various bandaids to try and fix it just make it more clunky.
How do you suggest we deal with people with a house, who though maybe bank error has their subscription lapse? Maybe they lost their card and had to cancel it, and are right now needing to do everything in cash. Give them 45 days maybe to get the new card and resub?
(and I see you as 2011, so you are probably getting the discounted subscription too, what is it... $9.99 a month?)

Im really confused how you imagine instanced housing to be like.Well I feel like the only way we'll get a system where everyone can have a house was if they moved to individual instanced houses. With instanced housing for 1 the server will need to remember the house of every single person in this game and not every account, every character. It will need to remember the entire inventory of the yard and the house.
Secondly if I afk infront of my house that server is going to need to remember my instanced housing when Im standing right infront of it. Heck it will need to remember all the random neighbors that happened to load in during the moment I decided to enter the instanced ward.
Instanced housing is a lot more server heavy. We already complain about the lack of wards and lack of character inventory spaces and house inventory limit. We will need a lot more server space to realize your instanced housing.
Not to even mention it ruins the neighborhood vibe. I love running around my ward and seeing people doing their stuff. And the occasion lala neighbor running past my house to the marketboard.
Scrap the whole housing system. Burn it to the ground, leaving nothing but bitter tears and wasted years.
No, I don't suggest any other system. Just wipe it all away.
