Sounds horrible, why not get an apartment if you want this?Think of "instanced housing" like one house per ward. There is nothing else, the rest are just props. There are no neighbors, although there might be NPCs. When you leave your house, it despawns, like a dungeon. When you want to come back to it, it boots up again.
Apartments, personal FC rooms, dungeons, are all instanced.
Outside of spaghetti changes, and corporate desire, what is likely needed to implement it, would be servers to run the extra instances of people in their private homes instead of standing in Limsa... and diskspace, to the order of a few megabytes per house.
YoshiP does still make promises, just not to the extent he used to because the game is now a whole another beast compared to 2013. Everything changes over time. From a business aspect they know housing is a tool to force continuous subscriptions, and the yield numbers likely back that up to keep churning more wards.
The whole thread wanting instance housing is rather wild, full of apologists that are homeless, thankfully YoshiP doesn't agree with it either because he always liked the atmosphere of hubs.
