I think you're agreeing with me.But that's just it, only recently was Hydaelyn the goddess actually revealed (only after the Calamity), before then virtually no one knew she even existed (Minfilia's original pre-Scions organization the Path of the Twelve thought it was a member of the Twelve who granted the Echo for instance), but knew the name 'Hydaelyn' as only the planet's name (she was never shown in 1.0, only very vaguely alluded to as "the Land's alive" in the lyrics for Answers and a cryptic reference by the Archons at the end of the last 'pre Yoshi-developed' story quest to seek out "the One" who granted the Echo, as they (the player) "could be granted so much more" (presumedly alluding to the Blessing of Light).
To the common person in the street, if they know the world as anything other than "the world" or "the star" it would be only "Hydaelyn", so to suddenlly go around calling it 'Etheirys" to a random person in the street would just grant odd looks. Really the only reason the Archons suddenly started using the Ancient term after having called it Hydaelyn was because the loporrits called it that as they knew no different (as they didn't even know the world had changed considerably and their information was extremely out of date), and needed to be able to be understood, and I guess they just kept calling it that given the loporrits were working closely with the Scions and Sharlayan from then on.
I guess it's one of those situations now where old habits die hard and I will still continue to call it 'Hydaelyn' if only out of stubbornness (even the main FFXIV site still calls it that under 'Story', so it's clear, like calling it 'the Source', use of the 'Etheirys' name would be situational (and specific to the story post EW) with 'Hydaelyn' still used generally. Or at least, that's how it seems to me).
I am of the opinion that the new (or older, in this case) name is not necessary because there would be no confusion for the name Hydaelyn moving forward.
