Really the only reason the Archons suddenly started using the Ancient term after having called it Hydaelyn was because the loporrits called it that as they knew no different (as they didn't even know the world had changed considerably and their information was extremely out of date), and needed to be able to be understood, and I guess they just kept calling it that given the loporrits were working closely with the Scions and Sharlayan from then on.

I guess it's one of those situations now where old habits die hard and I will still continue to call it 'Hydaelyn' if only out of stubbornness (even the main FFXIV site still calls it that under 'Story', so it's clear, like calling it 'the Source', use of the 'Etheirys' name would be situational (and specific to the story post EW) with 'Hydaelyn' still used generally. Or at least, that's how it seems to me).
I think you're agreeing with me.

I am of the opinion that the new (or older, in this case) name is not necessary because there would be no confusion for the name Hydaelyn moving forward.
