Then shadowbringers brought that down further to one every 5.x0 patch IRRC. So Stormblood halved the number of dungeons we got, and Shadowbringers halved the half. So we now get a quarter of the dungeons we used to get back in ARR and HW. Which cuts down on some of the replayability you mentioned and can really make it tough to get those weekly tomestones.

BTW, Thank you for the well thought out response.
TBH I felt this way at first but over time I realized I actually kind of prefer this change. Dungeons are neat and all but we get other kinds of content now, like the multiple tiers of map portals and things like Eureka/Bozja. Those kinds of things are more interesting than running yet another dungeon for a couple more tomestones. Also, all those lvl 50 ARR dungeons might have some fond memories, but they are also a very mixed bag when you get them in 50/60/70/80 roulette. So many not-relevant mechanics that no one knows how to deal with. Snowcloack is a story dungeon and even there no one does the yeti boss right anymore. I love spending 5+min just burning a boss that you're supposed to kill with mechanics, because people won't leave the sprites alone... Then you get something like Stone Vigil (Hard)? It's not even relevant content, but it will be left in roulettes for years to come and that roulette needs to not balloon out of control with yet more obscure boss mechanics. It's bad enough already. I started during 2.4 and I have trouble remember all those optional boss fights, let alone new players. We really don't need 25+ dungeons every expac...

See, just saying "what were you thinking" doesn't do anything except say "you're an idiot", thus insulting the person on the receiving end. If anyone came up to you at your job and only said that to you, with absolutely ZERO elaboration, how would you feel about it? Especially if there are hundred, if not thousands, of things you are responsible for?
They don't have to come up with solutions because they don't get paid to do that job.

The worst part about it? When the developers tell US the players WE are playing it wrong. This has happened at least once, if not more, every single expansion.

And the vast majority of these shortcomings? They could be easily detected if the FFXIV devs swallowed their pride and put out a public test server. They've been wrong before and they can't possibly think of everything hundreds of thousands / millions of players are going to do with their game.

But they're so protective of their "precious story" (that people by and largely blast through) that they won't put out a Test Server.

So please. Spare me. Don't tell me to be civil in a conversation when you're not even willing to have a conversation with the players in the first place.

Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]

This in a nutshell. People are fighting to be heard about issue that have stemmed back years and only meet with silence. Of course they are going to be angry and rude Yoshi-P. You need better communication between the development team and the player base.

You guys do realize the target group that Yoship is referring to are those Japanese extreme players who mailed knife blade as threat right?
These guys are the worst and can even go as far as burning down an anime studio.
These are the group that constantly making verbal threat and stalking.
He is not referring to the snowflakes who always using subscription as threat, those are just sheeps.
He is talking about the real wolves here.

Actually, it's my RIGHT to say mean things to people I can't see because if I don't have to see them frown once I say it then I am absolved of all guilt! Furthermore, it is NOT my job to provide ideas. This is THEIR game. HELLOOOO! Make it perfect for me. I shouldnt have to tell you how, you're supposed to know. I've given you 10bucks a month for years now, are you telling me you havent even looked up my horoscope once?? No I've never worked with computers, but you can't tell me that human error is still a thing. Computers don't just crash, they don't just fail sometimes. Coding isnt hard-it's mindless. I don't do it but I'm sure about that. Everything that goes wrong is entirely the devs fault and this is why they deserve all the hate they get if not more. Don't like it? Don't work for square and make updates take even longer because their turnover rate is so high because their employees cant take the constant negativity like most Americans in the customer service field are doing right now. They should have prepared for all of this 10 years ago at launch. Before launch. Yoshi should have prepared for this as soon as he was born-what was he doing suckling on milk?!? That wasnt an infant, it was a grown man all along!!

And anyways, Japanese people have no idea what we're saying. Yes, English is used almost every day in their lives via their own media + international entertainment and hey even in casual slang-but they can't actually know what any of that means. Business executives?!? Why would they know other languages, that makes 0 sense. I'm not xenophobic I'm just saying the likelyhood of a non-American knowing english-(proceeds
to imply the most awful thing imaginable). All I'm saying is that this game should have catered to me better, and if they can't even do that then well...they better be ready for my fightin words. Because as we all know, I could have made this entire game in my sleep. Sigh, so glad I'm amongst so many who think just like me.

TBH, if I was a dev, this here would be the last place I'd go to talk.

I made a thread on that particular subject, here:

    https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/...epresentatives

Putting aside the fact that it could benefit from a nudge, I'd note that it never received an official reply. Not that I was necessarily expecting one.

    Is this poor game design?

No, it's the people actually immersed in it who are wrong.

For this I always think back to 4.0 launch healers... Lillies/Confessions being procs off critical cure casts and Aldoquium/Succor costing 1/4 SCH's MP bar. The media tour sparked outrage, but nothing changed before release. WHM I ignored basically every new ability because they all used those statistically impossible to get proc stacks from abilities that are rarely/never used. SCH I actually removed the shield skills from my bar because even trying to use them less I was constantly going OOM, which was just a party wipe anyway, so why bother trying to shield at all? At least with using only Physick I could MAYBE heal enough without going OOM... But half the time I ended up with dead tanks because Defense scaling at those levels was ridiculous and tanks refused to upgrade their gear before level cap. Was a GREAT time to be a healer. T.T

There generally hasn't been anything THAT broken since then and props to SE for learning/improving in that regard, but maybe make the media tour a public test? It can focus on combat systems while hiding story from view. Get more eyes on board and then actually listen to the feedback afterwards. There are still oddities sneaking through that should be addressed sooner, like hard cast Flare being a DPS loss compared to High Fire 2, which seems really counter designer intent or at least counter intuitive design. It's kind of sad that we didn't get a balance patch BEFORE the raid tier started and they locked stuff in.
