I think you're talking to someone who doesn't know how it feels to be shunned for simply being born as something they cannot change. They won't ever understand. You're wasting your time.

Oh no I do, I am part a marginalized group on two fronts I just never let it get to me. I get the historical context behind the pride I just never got into it.

Historical context, basically. The generation prior was discriminated against for how they were born - so it's inevitable that in a more tolerant society they openly embrace traits that were formerly viewed as ugly, inferior, etc.

Generally speaking I still run into people that feel I am inferior due to aspects that I had no control over due to being born a certain way.

Still people will be people and that is life. To me being proud over something you had no control over is silly no matter how you spin it. Be it positive or negative spin the context does not make it any less weird and unnecessary imo
