There's nothing bad about someone mentioning their race. They were speaking about how relative it is to them to have hair that represents them. It shouldn't even bother you enough to make a post about it.

I know it shouldn't but it does. Just like my family members that have a flag on their car. I get you are proud to be what you are I get it is cool. It just irks me probably because I am around it all the time. Things can bother people no need to agree with it.or even respect it for that. Just like I tell my family I do not see much reason to be proud or protective of something you legit had no control over. That is just me though.

Generally why it is called a pet peeve it person dependent.

Historical context, basically. The generation prior was discriminated against for how they were born - so it's inevitable that in a more tolerant society they openly embrace traits that were formerly viewed as ugly, inferior, etc.

I do not think your statement falls in that lines for me personally, but as mentioned everyone has a different threshold, and they are free to feel as such just as you are free to feel a certain way. I still do question it, but I understand where you are coming from though.
