Instead of preserving Praetorium they should have split into two small dungeons and made them harder and more engaging.

They should just make an engaging experience from lvl 1-80 TBH. They had that, but they let ILVL creep too high where its just not a fun game at lower levels anymore. Some of the raids in Crystal tower series you may as well watch a movie of them getting run, because you are just walking through....

But yeah, people will complain about that too.
Praetorium is definitely a disaster for new players so much more so than many veterans care about or realize. The very first toxic interaction I had in the game period, was in Praetorium and with a mentor no less. I will never forget it. Your idea of two sperate dungeons is perfect.

This is the kind of thing that makes me afraid to tank, even if I do want to.
It kept me from tanking for literally over a decade in WoW. This game giving me no choice but to tank if I want to play certain jobs has been a godsend. Until people start whining and pulling "for me".

let be realistic, a majority if not all of the people rushing through figure they have to do things as fast as possible. thats society and gamers. everyone is in a rush, everything is expected to be fast so they dont, heaven forbid, have to think.

dont blame the game, blame people.

the people that want to rush... will always rush, no matter what the developers do. its current human nature. because deep down, a majority are terrified of... "boredom"
I do blame the game though, at least in this aspect. The game and it's developers are the architects of the world in which we play, and by extension have heavy influence on the behavior of the players that participate in this world. There have been suggestions in this very thread to help fix this. Make a game where you can gogogo through the content, and many people of course will do so. Unless they can't.

I started playing in ShB. I ran Praetorium for the first time when it was already around 6 years old. And so, this comes from a person who had the same stipulations for their first time as you did. Praetorium was not a disaster. I followed the group. I clicked interactable things, and I didn't hit anything no one else was. And I was fine. I didn't die. And no one was "toxic". And since then, I've run Praetorium an uncountable number of times. And the only time I have ever, EVER, seen people being "toxic" about a new player dying or getting lost, is when the new player is salty. If you say you didn't know where to go and you don't know how to get back, I've only ever seen people respond politely and informatively.

If you die, teleport into the boss room when it locks. It's not like you miss the story. The trash pulls are a joke and do not matter whatsoever. I'm not someone who played Praetorium when it first came out, and I'm saying to say Praetorium is a disaster, or to quit the entire game because you didn't go through a teleport and died, is overly dramatic. No one is here to hold your hand through the entire game.
