The amount of degeneracy in your posts is unbelievable.

A) If the minor is pretending to be of age, and you have no reasonable way to know he's lying, it's not against the law to have an explicit conversation with him online.

B) It's only a crime if the ERP community KNOWS they're interacting with minors. If they don't know they didn't do anything wrong; that's not my opinion that's the actual legality of the situation.

You don't know the law, so quit making it the crux of your position here.

And that's lovely that you care, people should. Thing is, when it's not real to people, they don't care. ERP does not always equal real sex to people because it's not real. It's fake between made up characters in a made up setting. There is a massive difference between ERP/online roleplay sex and real life intercourse...both physically and mentally for people.

Well maybe, or maybe not. People got already thrown into jail for baiting kiddos in online games. And if that happens to someone in the ERP community who didn't bothered one bit to check with whom they interact, i won't cry a tear about their wasted lifes.

I actually disagree with that take. If the game is being platformed as something safe for kids, it better damn well be safe for kids. Now we can have the conversation about whether or 'this' particular issue constitutes a concern, but that's another point. However, if porn becomes directly accessible through mainstream avenues that people don't have to search for via 3rd party resources then that's a breach of the game's rating system and isn't something I'd want to defend in court if someone escalates issues to that level.

But, when someone signs up for their kid to play a game like this they don't expect their child to ever encounter "M" rated mature content. Blaming "parenting" is a rather hollow position if the community is working to corrupt, pervert, and/or expose people to things that aren't suited for a "T" for teen game.

The games content is platformed as being safe for Teens. The online interactions are a separate thing, and no game will ever be able to promise you or your kids any kind of real protection from that. It's why ESRB clarifies that the rating is in no way an indication of what online interactions you may encounter.

Like it or not it's pretty much entirely on you to protect yourself and your kids from the internet. Throwing your kids online in any circumstance without supervision is incredibly irresponsible parenting.

Laws are not absolute so why believe in them absolutely? This mindset is confusing for me though it might just because I grew up in an rural area and my parents taught me the system does not offer absolute protection from all the horrors of the world. As such justice is rarely ever granted to many. Especially in cases with child molestation my mother was a prosecutor and the reality is that often times many cases did not end up to court. Due to police letting their emotions get the better of them and cutting corners or no physical evidence can often be found and testimony from a child victim are generally viewed as un reliable their story changes details get altered and or their desire to please adults poison their testimony. Among other reasons, so question remains why trust the law with such a thing?

What your saying would be true in an ideal world but unfortunately that is not the case. Sure it is rated for T so people should act accordingly but that is not the case and to expect it be so is extremely naive and dangerous in the case of a parent. This is the real world not a bubble.

I think some have a hard time wrapping their heads around that the modding community uses mods for things other than perving on children. Let's just ignore the fact that Lalafell NSFW mods are basically taboo and will get you blacklisted by the entire community...

ERP has been part of mmorpg history even back in UO days, or when people did it in chat rooms like talk city. So you can't get rid of it.

Let them move to discord, tbh, at least that place has it easier to verify age, and yeah maybe you can't get rid of it because logging everyone's private tells and party chat would violate their privacy, but you can be sure that if someone decides to report the instance you'll have to face the consequences, no amount of yapping on the forum will change that.

It's already on Discord and there's no "easy" way to verify age. Do you know how easy it is to get a fake ID? I could literally get one right now for $20 and have it pass both irl and online. It's also extremely easy to manipulate a photo to make it look older through Photoshop or other apps. Birth certificates can be photoshopped. You can get someone on Fiverr to do it for you for cheap lol.

Getting a fake ID is a lot more hassle than just saying I'm 18, though, but go off. Honestly if someone lies to you about their age with that much effort I don't think that's really your fault, the problem is when some people continue this kinda behaviour even after the lie is over.

It's really not a hassle, it's filling out a form and sending a photo. If someone is that determined to come off as a certain age, they will. Also, what's stopping a minor from saying they're also 18 then? I'm just trying to point out the flaws in your logic and how one platform isn't better or safer than the other.

I dont know why everybody thinks, that the ERP comm is ok with underage content or having members under 18. But maybe someone can ask a representive of this comm to clarify it, if that is not enough.

Well at least the LGBTQ+ community speaks out against such stuff and distances itself from it. All i hear from the ERP community are excuses and "we can't do anything about it" or other really crazy mental gymnastics.
