Anti-Erper: "Engaging in ERP in 14 is against ToS, and is not very smart due to being a game in which minors can play leading you to an illegal situation."
The Defense Force: "We are not raising your kids! You are shirking you responsibility! Online interactions not rated by the ESRB, checkmate puritans!"

I don't think anyone cares if people are banned for using Mods. SE's game and SE's ToS to enforce; or in this case not enforce.Anti-Modder: "Mods are against ToS, and some more than likely illegal in some regions."

My problem is the moralizing and fake outrage. A lot of you REALLY don't want to keep track of your own kids apparently; and really like getting on SE and the FFXIV community for not parenting them well enough for you.
I just think maybe it's about time parents stopped relying on everyone else to do the job for them.
This whole parenting issue has been such a weird and wild take. The responsibility for a kid has always been bigger than just the parent's. That's the whole reason why child protection services and children's rights organizations (which recently have been fighting for laws surrounding online grooming btw) are even a thing. Try and imagine this: some kids don't even have parents.I don't think anyone cares if people are banned for using Mods. SE's game and SE's ToS to enforce; or in this case not enforce.

This will make me out to be an ass, and I am okay with that. Though I have to ask, why should I care? No one really have given a compelling reason as to why I should care about the wellbeing of another person's child. A lot of it boils down to kids tho. This whole parenting issue has been such a weird and wild take. The responsibility for a kid has always been bigger than just the parent's. Things have changed, a village used to raise a child because essentially everyone would need to rely on each other to survive, instead of baby formula you would simply give your child to a mother with excess milk for feeding, etc.
That worked because everyone was on the same page and at the same developmental stage, it was in your best interest to raise children since it was no skin off your back and all pros.
People expect others to keep that same tribalism now that things have changed and we're no longer on that same page. There's a difference between leaving an abandoned child to die and not being family friendly on the internet.
Granted I haven't read the entirety of this thread and apparently there's some MAP(s) justification going on here so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

I'm not sure why you all keep acting like people are arguing in favor of things like grooming. No ones saying that gov't protection agencies shouldn't protect children from criminals; but ERP and NSFW Mods (even ones depicting fictional child like bodies) AREN'T criminal. They're just potentially vulgar elements of internet life that aren't appropriate for kids, and navigating the inappropriate parts of life for your kid is YOUR job as a parent. This whole parenting issue has been such a weird and wild take. Lazy parents need to stop trying to pass that responsibility off to strangers.

It is basically true. Those mods are technically client modifications. And you can use client modifications for cheating. The problem is, it is not clear for which purpouse a mod serves. So Square Enix does not permitt them all.
So don't be suprised when some day they permaban your account for violating the ToS.
Cheers
At this point I wish SE would just go scorched earth and actually enforce their own rules by any means possible.
Would be no skin off my bones.
