Many of us are well aware of the horrors that exist in the world, actually - which is precisely why we fight against such things.

I could write a lot of words in response to the disgusting attempts to deflect blame onto the victims, but very few of them would be appropriate for this forum.

What I will say, however, is that it a common and unfortunate tactic for abusers to attempt to shed any and all responsibility on both a direct and indirect level. I'm sure anybody who has survived abuse themselves, though, happens to be well aware of the way in which charm, gaslighting, deflection, manipulation, mockery and all sorts of other weapons are deployed against those who speak up or speak out.

ERP has been part of mmorpg history even back in UO days, or when people did it in chat rooms like talk city. So you can't get rid of it. So again besides hoping parents teach kids better. Not a single thing anyone can do. I accept the lesser evil of it. But hey you all don't got to do it.
I just don't understand how we are using logic and clearly stating how things are. It gets twisted some how that we support pedos, or that we "blame the victims".

Well, you do support them or not? And it is not about that stuff like this will happen anyways, cause kids are kids.

Every country the game is available, i believe, has laws that would send you to jail if it came out that you are sexting with a minor. Which people ingame obviously do. And in this case it's your responsibility as an adult, like irl, to make sure you don't just tumble between the sheets with a underaged person.^

It is one thing to get lied to by a person saying they are 18+ and they are in fact not. It is a completely different story for ERP roleplayers etc. not to care at all with whom they are doing it and just running with their meat out and a blindfold on through Ul'dah.

But yeah mods aren't the problem and neither is ERP, the people doing that stuff are the problem cause they show complete disinterest with whom they might have digital intercourse. And that is the majority of all ERP players. It's kinda concerning if you don't care if the other party is underaged or not. Speaks not for you. (Not meaning the quoted person with that ofc.)

I can understand that ERPlayers dont care about others age or gender. They care about the character, not the player behind it. They doing their RP with that character, not with the person.

Do you really want, that other people know such private information about other players? How do you even know, if those information are correct? Do you really want to know, what the other person is doing in front of his/her PC right now? Are you checking if each player is over 13 everytime you enter a dungeon? Propably not.

Thats the difference between Sexting and ERP. Sexting actually contains real and private information. ERP is still fictional. And even when ERP happens between a 14- (Roegadyn player) and a 24-year old (Miqo'te player)... Its not sexting between a minor and a creep. Its harmless RP between a Roe and a Cat. Not even more harmfull than h**tai or EFanFiction on the internet. Who do you want to judge then? The game? The players? The parents? The society? You cant.

It is literally illegal to engage minors, in any way, with such stuff. No matter if it's roleplay or sexting or just shoving your uncovered tail into someones dms. There are no "grey" areas when it comes to that. Same as you can't say irl that you put a mario mask over the kiddo before molesting it and thus it's alright cause it was a male plumber in that scenario. All that might achieve is giving you an express ticket into the next loony bin.

And speaking from my personal standpoint, i know it's a complex topic and you can't just ban everything and this problem will probably never be able to be solved. But still, i think it's gross af that you (not you you, the erp player i mean) just doesn't care. Heck i would care a lot whom i'm about to duck.

Sure it is (at some point), but only if you re totally sure, that this person is under 18 and you concent to have "virtual intercourse" with it.

In real life, you can actually tell the age based on the physical appearance (for the most part). Online, you cant. You can ask, but name one teen who never lie about their age. I assume, ERP discords may have a rule to enter those only if you re over 18.

The differences are two fold. One, 4 man dungeon content is sanctioned by the game creators and rated by my country's rating board. Two, I don't communicate or interact beyond just doing my job/role and leaving the dungeon.

Wow just wow, the lengths you are going to just to abstain from any responsibility as an adult. People with this attitude ARE the problem here oh well they say, it's just a game doesn't matter if it's a person behind that character. This is exactly what abusers do to their victims, deflect, oh you made me do it, you made me say it, you made me be angry so I couldn't control myself you made me get aroused because you wore a bikini, you made me want to hurt you because I have needs too! That is how disgusting this thread is. The victim blame is real, you actually expect a 9 year old to know their mind or a 13 year old. There is a reason they are not adults at that age. Just stop! This is disgusting. What does a nine year old in a game in a dungeon killing npcs with to do with the erp community not policing themselves? If you are into it and a adult I could give two sheets but if you don't care that you maybe abusing a minor well I have no use for you and you're a sorry excu itse for a human. And that's lovely that you care, people should. Thing is, when it's not real to people, they don't care. ERP does not always equal real sex to people because it's not real. It's fake between made up characters in a made up setting. There is a massive difference between ERP/online roleplay sex and real life intercourse...both physically and mentally for people.

Well maybe, or maybe not. People got already thrown into jail for baiting kiddos in online games. And if that happens to someone in the ERP community who didn't bothered one bit to check with whom they interact, i won't cry a tear about their wasted lifes.

Let them move to discord, tbh, at least that place has it easier to verify age, and yeah maybe you can't get rid of it because logging everyone's private tells and party chat would violate their privacy, but you can be sure that if someone decides to report the instance you'll have to face the consequences, no amount of yapping on the forum will change that.
