The article quoted actually provides some rather interesting reading. The rest of this post isn't really about anything the poster said.
Here's a breakdown:
- Revenues for the company's MMO division came in at 13.6B Yen ($120M), up from 8.8B Yen ($80M) last quarter.
- Revenues from mobile games also increased quarter over quarter from 20.3B yen to 23.7B yen
- Publication revenues also soared quarter over quarter from 3.8B Yen to 5.1B yen
- Traditional retail game sales came in at only 10.8B Yen since no major titles were released in the quarter.
So, to be clear, the MMO division ranked
second out of the four areas listed in the article, and only because of sales of a new expansion (note the 9B Yen from the previous quarter, which, after everyone has purchased the game, would drop back.)
The MMO division does
not drive Square Enix's revenues. It is, in fact, worth 14B Yen in revenue for a company that made more than 50B Yen in revenue/
So - you can you tell me why, exactly, they should pay
more attention to FFXIV than to the rest of the company's products?
