Why is the Cruise Chaser mount from the Mogstation?

This is a major disappointment but not something we haven't seen before. Indeed, Sleipnir, the mount rode by Odin, was added in the mog station a few years back. This is not new. But the difference is that CC is really popular, because it stems from Alexander raids in the HW expansion and to be fair, HW and its new "savage" content explained a lot the game gaining in popularity and awareness, which drove more players to it then. In consequence, I think a lot of players feel a deep nostalgia for that content and expected better for CC. I mean, pvp instances and a ultimate raid have been designed along and around this content, this could have been MEANINGFUL, REWARDING IN-GAME CONTENT. Instead, greedy SE has decided to sell it for 30 dollars and make it a meaningless mount to have...
SE clearly doesn't need to do that. The game is literally exploding with subs right now as WoW refugees are swarming and famous twitch streamers doing a huge publicity by playing it all day. SE can even afford to give 2 weeks free subs. I do not think that's something a company in need of money would do...
I'm fine with the cash shop, I'm even fine with cash shop selling in game content like NPCs outfits, or mounts, that aren't tied to hard content. But selling mounts from content that has a hard version, that means time and sweat from some players, that's where I draw the line.
That was the worst low blow in a while, SE. Please don't do that again.

I can readily estimate that at least half of the people playing this game today have never entered Alexander, nor do they know where the new mount apparently came from.

Social media is a vast echo chamber, so it's probably not as popular as you might think.

Among every mount released in the Mogstation...
This one is the one I can't accept being here and not directly in the game.

Especially because it's in the PVE content.
It's just like, Ramuh (Eden version). Fortunately it was a Savage reward.

Sorry but i do not believe that cash shops are necessary to keep a subcription based MMO alive. I have read an article long time ago. This was an interview with a MMO dev and he said that 50k subscribers are enough to run an MMO. OK, let it be 100k today because of money inflation etc. I guess FF14 has far more subscribers than that.



I wouldn't have any problems with cash shop mounts at all. The point is, i really hate it when someone says something and then does the exactly opposite. When Yoshi-P says that there are not enough developer ressources to do certain things (that players want) then i believe it. But if there are suddenly enough ressources to create shop mounts then i guess the first statement was maybe a lie. But even it was not a lie, it was not honesty.

That article has to be absolutely ancient then. There is no way a high quality MMO could survive on 50k subs.

Developers...costs money.
Overhead...costs money.
Writers...costs money.
Headquarters...costs money.
Food/utilities...cost money.
Bandwidth...costs money.
Customer Service...costs money.
Our demands...cost money.
Advertising...costs money.

And yes, executives...costs money

There is zilch that WE know for a fact about their resources or how much is put specifically into the game as a result of sub, the shop, or anything else. That doesn't mean Yoshi lied about anything.

I completely agree with OP.

We already have to pay a subscription fee to pay the game and once each 4 months (or less) they release something on Mogstation that could've be in the game in some way. Cruise Chaser is special for so many people and Square Enix could've placed it as a new reward for Rival Wings or even a prize for a new event encouraging PvP like Moogle Treasure Trove does for old PvE content. It would make total sense! Or they could compensate every player interested in Ultimate that became frustrared about the delay of Dragonsong War Ultimate and develop an exclusive mount for each 1st Ultimate Clear and CC would be going to TEA, but i understand this would be very costly... But even so, this mount being a Mogstation thing feels so... wrong... so... frustrating.

Yep. Pretty hypocritical lol. I mean they could just add more to the already existing days but nope, let’s put everything on the mogstation so we can have our money put towards marvel’s flopvengers. "Everything"? So every single item in the game is on the Mogstation now? Every future cosmetic item will be there as well. News to me. Exaggerating to that extent doesn't help your argument. There are still plenty of great mounts in the game you can earn without spending money on the shop. Get over the damn FOMO, realize you don't need to own everything, and just ignore it like I do. It's not that hard to have some self-control and in the end, you're far happier when you stop worrying about it. The cash shop has been around for years and there's still plenty of awesome cosmetic stuff that they add to the game regularly.

And btw, the development team and the cash shop team are two completely separate groups.

The sooner some of you accept this is a necessary evil the better you will feel. You wanting the mount is the reason why it has value on the mog station. They already told you the mog station profits goes back into the game, and makes the game better for us all. Are you saying yoshi p is lying about it? Either way, games are costly to make and maintain, and mmo prices are staying the same while it costing more and more to fund and maintain the game itself.


Heck we pay more for phone services and other stupid things, and we get far less content, and requires far less work to maintain that, than to maintain a mmo. So if keeping the price the same, and putting up with a cash shop. So be it.

No. Only when they stop doing this. Either its cash shop or an insane grind or whole kinds of mounts locked behind feast/pvp. Why is the same pvp allagan orb 3-4x at pvp only? why cant one be from somewhere else? Why all of those chairs had to be only feast? If you literally can make 5-10 reskills/recolors theres no reason to lock all of em behind one (unloved by most) content. Why trashing all older mounts at the mogtome instead of adding anything new just for there? make an 500 tokken mount idc that grind, even less if theres an wide choice of what i can do.

Add as much cash mounts as you like, really. IMO we get too few stuff there. Yes, too few. Theres so much stuff I would not mind, the Manacutters the pirates during mhach used, a reskin of the Eden 1 savage mount, an fire red reskin of the heavensward firebird. A golden Kyuubi - or that fate mecha kuubi from Bozja.

Add the basic carbunlce as reward for the lv 80 summoner quest and make 3-5 recolors for the mogstation if you have to. Heck they couldve made an Golden chaser with effects and add the normal one for Anything ingame. Like kill 100 mecha on a chaser during RW... anything.

For me - and I suppose many others - its not about the mogstation or having mounts there, but how its handled...
