I did play on PvP servers, and this game has PvP. Believe it or not, this isn't solely a "PvE" (casual) mmorpg - in fact there are many rewards associated with PvP in this game. This is a simple request for further PvP content, such as a PvP server (open world PvP).

If only waiting on q’s between season wasn’t as bad.
Well, those who want wpvp want different things- some want an opt in system sure, but there's others here saying that'd want it so they can gank people who bug them, which would clearly be a non-consensual wpvp system. From a cursory look it seems the arguments against all boil down to "I wouldn't like it therefore it shouldn't happen".
But I don't think that anyone is saying that open world pvp shouldn't be opt-in (either by having pvp servers, a wow like warmode, or whatever else), so I don't understand those arguments.
I think though that 'not enough would use it' is a pretty good reason to consider, whether you're for or against it. If you're against it- obviously the reasoning that this would take a lot of resources, and may result in less pvp content elsewhere, pvp content that they may want.
But for those who do want wpvp- if there's no interest, and you have a small wpvp community split across dozens of zones, you won't get wpvp anyway. It'd almost be best to do an instanced zone somewhat like what GW2/ESO do rather than have the entire world be wpvp- which is kind of somewhere between wpvp and instanced pvp.
Yes and SE should prioritize improving existing PVP in the game so that players would actually interested in working towards those myriad of PVP rewards already exist in the game.
Once they done that, they can check the playerbase response. They should also wait for the response of the new PVP mode coming in EW.
After all that, then maybe they can consider adding OWPVP in separate server if there is significant increase in interest from the playerbase.
But it's not a
It's a side content with no gear progression, and even the new mode coming in Endwalker is meant to attract more casual PvPers.
It also doesn't have a PvP server, and as a casual side content, it doesn't need it. A fully voluntary opt-in mode is just about the most in needs if it wants to provide OP-PvP, but even then, it might still cause problems with the current state of the server capacity and the way instancing works for the zones.

As they seem to like to experiment with casual content (Farmville come EW) and other things like Bozja, I don't see why this can't happen for PvP content too! I'd like FFXIV to be at it's best, and prove it's worth as the best mmorpg.
If you noticed, I separated mmorpg, and mmo in my quote. Anyway, I don't see why we can't see the current PvP improved, and as this game gets more popular, it would be wise to continue expanding their PvP lineup, in my opinion. I also wish they would focus on more than just 'casual' content, in general.

To get serious again. When did I ever purpose to, or make it the point of, targeting sprouts and new players? Never, but people do like putting words in my mouth I guess. However, my quarrels primarily exist with players at cap. They have all the same gear access as I do, so we would be on an even playing field. They just need to get good and prove themselves stronger.
Improving the game does not mean changing course when it's doing well with its current course. An opt-in PvP mode (instead of a server dedicated to PvP) fits that course while still expanding the PvP lineup, but that's for later in the future. First, we need to see about this new mode.If you noticed, I separated mmorpg, and mmo in my quote. Anyway, as I brought up 'improvements' to PvP initially, I don't see why 'improvements', and as this game gets more popular, it would be wise to continue expanding their PvP lineup, in my opinion. The people you have quarrels with only need to get good if they opt-in to OP-PvP, which you didn't say in the OP whether it would be opt-in. That's what some people are discussing. To get serious again. When did I ever purpose to, or make it the point of, targeting sprouts and new players? Maybe the real open world PvP are the friends we made along the way.
