If the AoE will not kill ya and does not require your healer to waste resources then eat it without worry. You stand in that AoE and show the boss you are the real boss.

Only way to learn what you can stand in and not is to stand in it and see what happens. Do not worry I can assure you for the most part it will not cause issues and I say this as a healer. Stand in that AoE push your limits!

I'm pretty sure the telegraphs are there to keep you from being damaged. I'm pretty sure that at least two of the seven DPS 'battle runs' in the Hall of the Novice try to drive that into every player's memory. "Orange on the ground = bad".

I'd also like to point out to tanks - tank stance is there to aggro the mob(s) as well as your no-cost-to-you AoE. There are several lessons in the Hall of the Novice that try to drive that into every player's memory.

About the only thing the Hall doesn't teach a tank: "Stop moving while the boss is up. It means the DPS will do less damage, and they'll all die if the boss throws a tank buster that only you, the tank, can survive when you dance it's attack straight into the DPS faces."

By standing I mean only way to know if an AoE will outright kill ya is by standing in it. Though for the most part AoE's generally do not kill ya outright.

In short people have very few reasons to not eat an AoE.

Yeah. It takes a little bit of experience, knowing the fights, gear, etc. you can't eat everything, but there are quite a few you can actively eat for more uptime.

Its funny cause people who promote just stand in AOE's are the same people who cry the loudest when people die to them in later content.

Note: Taking advice from a players alt, is like taking advice from a voice in a dark room. Criticism is a two way street remember that!!

Generally I really only get upset if it is something I cannot personally save them from as a healer. Though if I can heal through it I rather people do not move, and the very least it gives me something to do besides spam glare.

    And you know that... how?
The people advocating to eat aoes so far explicitly stated that you can as long as you know your limits and don't force other people to adjust for it - which means dying to them beyond one "for science" try is not knowing your limits and being lazy.
Escpecially in experts it's pretty common to have casters stand in aoes instead of interrupting their casts for something that only hits for 10%. It's all about knowing your limits. But if you find someone that says "someone died to an aoe after I told them to stay in it, how dare they??"... by all means, show me.
