The point of the OP wasn't "leave the peasant dead vs waste my wonderful mana on them", it was "where do you no longer personally consider a death your fault". After that comes things like MP left, keeping the remaining party alive, whether swift is up, etc.Even so, that's not a big convoluted system of "oh the player is so bad that I watch their every move to determine whether or not they are worthy of my precious res." It's either "I get you up now, or I get you up in a second." I'm not going to leave someone on the ground just because I deem them unworthy or something like that.

Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]

Mechanics are Aesthetics. Graphics don't make interesting gameplay.
I just wanna let you know. That whole list spoke to me on a level that I can't even describe. I mean the whole thing about Thundergod Cid? Everytime.
And also agree on the demands of healbotting. If you can tell me that I don't pay your sub, you don't tell me how to heal, especially if you're the one with the brink of death tag.
Tbh, if I'm playing basketball with someone that keeps dying to the point that I'm having to chain hardcast rez to keep you on feet... I'm probably just going to let you stay on the floor at that point. It's clear they aren't learning and they are likely in a state of mind where they need a breather anyhow.
And (going by your profile) you're a RDM. Please heal yourself.
There comes a point where you have to determine if raising that player is a liability to keeping the rest of the party alive. surprisingly I have only had it happen a couple times where somebody died so many times (4 times in the same fight) that it started to chip my MP, but I still got them up anyway since even if they are doing half tank dps it's still a bigger gain than if they were dead on the floor. If the time comes though where my resources are going to dip low then they better hope somebody else takes pity on them because the overall party comes first.

I will generally keep everyone up if possible for one reason.... dead ppl do zero dps.
Seeing these lists and point systems just has me going O_O
If swiftcast is up and I'm not low on MP, I raise them. If it's not, then they wait. If the boss is close to dead then they'll probably stay on the floor. If they've died a lot, meh. They still get raised once swiftcast is available unless they tell me to leave them down. Takes me like a second.
If they need healing, then I'll heal them. I don't care if they stood in things or didn't avoid this or that. I don't care how many vuln stacks they got. Honestly a lot of the time I consider it a challenge of my healing abilities that I can keep them alive.
The only thing I won't do is chase people. If you're nearby, there's no reason for me not to heal you. I don't have my ego in my healing. I do the role I queued up for.
I don't normally withhold heals from people who are being jerks. I initiate a vote kick.

Hmmm, interesting question! I used to have the mindset, "I've failed as a player" before I raided more in savage content and branched out in jobs/roles. After two years or so, I'd say I usually ask myself many "why" questions. Why did things go the way they did? What I could do next time to improve?
Sure, not everything is in my control, and never will be. I can't control if someone in the party's new and keeps taking avoidable damage and dies. I can't control how many vuln stacks someone collects, or how the tank uses (or doesn't use) their cooldowns. I can at least look at how I triage when things go sideways, balancing my own healing/DPS and taking time to slow raise when my swiftcast is down. And this is all for the purpose of completing the dungeon/raid, which needs as many people up as possible to do damage/handle mechanics. I don't like leaving people on the floor whenever possible, but you gotta keep the party alive the best you can.
In 90% of the content in this game I have two choices:
Mindlessly smash glare for the best part of 5-10 minutes straight
Or
Try to keep some scrub alive as they eat vuln stacks like candy.
One is at least as engaging as it is disappointing.
